Spied: BMW Alpina 7 Series to Debut as First Post-Acquisition Model in 2027

Spy shots reveal the upcoming BMW Alpina 7 Series, the first model since BMW fully acquired the Alpina brand, featuring a re-tuned 4.4L twin-turbo V8 and expected to launch in 2027.

Spy shots of the upcoming BMW Alpina 7 Series have surfaced, offering the first look at what will be the inaugural model produced under BMW's full ownership of the Alpina brand. According to Chinese automotive outlet Chezhiwang, the new car is based on the facelifted BMW 7 Series and is slated for an official debut in 2027.

Design and Styling Cues

The Alpina 7 Series retains the overall silhouette of the standard 7 Series but introduces several distinctive Alpina-specific touches. Up front, it features unique amber LED daytime running lights, a design element previously seen on the Vision Alpina concept car and likely to become a signature trait for future Alpina models. The kidney grille adopts a three-horizontal-bar layout, differing from the seven-bar design of the regular 7 Series, while the front bumper and lower air intakes have been reshaped for a more aggressive stance. Black wheels with silver accents adorn the sides, and the rear is expected to feature Alpina's trademark oval exhaust outlets along with a bespoke rear bumper.

Powertrain and Performance

Under the hood, the Alpina 7 Series is expected to carry a re-tuned version of the 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine. For reference, the current BMW M760 xDrive produces 570 horsepower (about 425 kW), while the previous Alpina B7 delivered 600 hp (about 447 kW). The new model is likely to exceed those figures, with additional chassis and suspension tuning aimed at balancing sporty handling with luxury comfort.

BMW has also confirmed that Alpina will introduce a dedicated next-generation X7 model, expected to hit the market in 2027 as well. As the brand is fully integrated into BMW's corporate structure, Alpina's product lineup is set to expand in the coming years, according to Chezhiwang.
