About geisou
China’s EV industry, explained for the world. Written in China, edited for readers everywhere.
China builds more electric cars than the rest of the world combined, and the models, prices and technologies that will shape your market are usually decided here first. geisou is an English-language newsroom covering that industry for readers outside China — the new cars, the price war, the batteries, the policy, and above all what it means for buyers and businesses elsewhere.
What we publish
- News — new models, launches, price moves and the companies behind them.
- Models — new-model filings and launch calendars, with specs in units you can use.
- Reviews — first drives and long-term tests, with range figures labelled measured or claimed.
- Technology — cells and packs, e-motors, ADAS and software, charging standards.
- Market & Policy — sales data, incentives, tariffs and the rules that shape the market.
- Going Global — which Chinese brands are entering which markets, at what price, and when.
- Guides — plain-English explainers, from CLTC versus WLTP to what an EREV actually is.
- Data — monthly sales tables and brand league tables, with the caveats attached.
How we work
We are based in China and write in English. That is the job: we read the Chinese sources first-hand — manufacturer filings, the MIIT catalogue, CPCA sales data, company statements — then verify, convert and explain them for readers who cannot. Every story is edited before publication. Manufacturer figures are labelled as claimed; test results are labelled as measured. Prices are given in the original currency with an approximate USD equivalent, and a range quoted on the Chinese CLTC cycle is always shown alongside a WLTP estimate.
What we do not do
We do not republish press releases as news, we do not sell coverage, and we do not translate headlines word for word when the sense would be lost. Corrections are published rather than quietly edited. If a claim cannot be sourced, it does not run.
