Geely has launched the 2027 Binyue Super Edition in China, a compact petrol SUV aimed at younger buyers. The model is available in three trims - Super MT, Super CVT, and Super Max - with launch prices of 59,800 yuan, 66,800 yuan, and 71,800 yuan respectively (about $8,400, $9,400, and $10,100). These are Chinese guide prices before taxes and incentives, and reflect a 1,000-yuan deposit that counts as 8,000 yuan toward the purchase, according to the Chinese outlet 电动邦 (Dian Dong Bang).
The Binyue has been a strong seller for Geely since its debut in 2018, with cumulative sales of 1,478,101 units across 70 countries. It has been the best-selling A0-segment petrol SUV in China for three consecutive years, and in September its market share in that segment reached 47.12 percent. The new Super Edition aims to build on that momentum with upgrades across design, cabin, technology, powertrain, and safety.
Design and cabin
The exterior adopts a new "flowing light" design language, featuring a waterfall-style front grille and LED daytime running lights. Four paint options are offered: wave blue, cloud white, star silver, and distant mountain grey. The interior uses a new wraparound layout with a black multifunction center console and diamond-pattern door trim. A 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.6-inch central touchscreen dominate the dashboard.
The infotainment system is powered by Geely's Flyme Auto, running on a 12nm E02 chip. It supports AMap navigation, smartphone app control, Bluetooth keys, voice assistant, and connectivity with Flyme Link, Huawei HiCar, and Carlink. The cabin also includes 20-plus convenience features such as ventilated leather seats, six-way power driver seat, and power-folding mirrors.
Powertrain and safety
Under the hood, the Binyue Super Edition offers a 1.5-liter direct-injection engine paired with either a CVT or a five-speed manual gearbox. It produces 93 kW (about 125 hp) and 152 Nm of torque. Fuel consumption is rated at 6.89 L/100km for the automatic and 6.46 L/100km for the manual, under WLTP testing.
Safety is built on Geely's BMA modular architecture, with 66 percent high-strength steel and 15.2 percent hot-formed steel in the body. The structure includes a cage design with five horizontal and four vertical load paths, and key areas have tensile strength of up to 1,500 MPa. The car also features a 540-degree camera system and an AI-tuned chassis that underwent over 1 million kilometers of simulated testing.
The launch also marked the start of the fifth season of Geely's "Our Basketball" series, a grassroots tournament that has been running for four years to connect with younger consumers. With the new Super Edition, Geely aims to strengthen its position in the A0 petrol SUV segment and challenge for a fourth consecutive sales title.
