Geely has launched the 2027 Binyue Super Edition, a refreshed small petrol SUV priced from 59,800 yuan (about $8,400) as a Chinese guide price before taxes and incentives. The model arrives in three trims, with the entry price reflecting a 1,000-yuan deposit that counts as 8,000 yuan off the list price, available for orders placed before November 30.
The launch comes as the A0-class small SUV segment in China shrinks. Retail sales of A0 petrol SUVs totaled 454,000 units in the first half of 2026, down 14.6% year on year, according to data from the China Passenger Car Association cited by NetEase Auto. Despite the contraction, the Binyue held a 47.12% share of that segment in September, with cumulative global sales of 1,478,101 units across 70 countries, and it has been the best-selling A0 petrol SUV for three consecutive years.
Design and powertrain upgrades
The 2027 model adopts a new "flowing light" design language, featuring a waterfall-style front grille, LED daytime running lights, 17-inch wheels, and a layered taillight cluster. Interior changes include a wraparound cockpit with an 8.8-inch instrument display and a 14.6-inch central touchscreen, plus new color options such as warm orange and dusk gray.
Under the hood, the Binyue uses a 1.5D mid-mounted direct-injection engine producing 93 kW (about 125 hp) and 152 Nm of torque, paired with either a CVT automatic or a 5-speed manual gearbox. Combined WLTC fuel consumption is 6.89 liters per 100 km for the automatic and 6.46 liters for the manual. The setup is tuned for commuting rather than performance, according to the report.
The cabin offers 84.6% usable space efficiency, 28 storage compartments, and a 593-liter trunk that expands to 1,054 liters with the rear seats folded. That cargo volume approaches some compact SUV levels, the article notes.
Tech and safety focus
The biggest change is in software. The Binyue now runs Geely's FlymeAuto system on a 12-nanometer E02 cockpit chip, with Amap's latest 850 navigation, voice control, and support for three phone-connectivity ecosystems: FlymeLink, Huawei HiCar, and Carlink. That addresses a common weakness in budget petrol SUVs, where infotainment systems have historically been slow and hard to connect.
Safety hardware includes 66% high-strength steel and 15.2% hot-formed steel, with key areas rated at 1,500 MPa tensile strength, plus a 540-degree panoramic camera and a four-layer air purification system. The chassis is built on Geely's BMA modular architecture, with digital tuning claimed to have undergone over 1 million kilometers of simulated testing.
Geely positions the Binyue as a low-maintenance, reliable option for buyers without home charging, frequent long-distance drivers, or those seeking a dependable commuter car for six to seven years. The company offers a 4-year or 100,000 km warranty for first owners, and a trade-in subsidy of up to 4,000 yuan. The free-data package, including lifetime basic connectivity and 10 GB monthly entertainment data for three years, applies only to the top Max trim, according to NetEase Auto.
