FAW Besturn has officially launched the five-door version of its Xiaoma (Little Pony) mini electric car, expanding the model's appeal from a two-seater city runabout to a more practical family vehicle. According to NetEase Auto, the new Xiaoma five-seat edition is priced at 44,900 to 49,900 yuan (about $6,324 to $7,028) as a Chinese guide price before taxes and incentives, with a limited-time promotional price starting at 39,900 yuan (about $5,620).
The five-door Xiaoma retains the rounded, cute design of the two-door version, including circular LED headlights and cloud-ring decorative elements, but adds a rear door on each side for easier access. The car is available in five exterior colors and two interior color schemes.
Bigger body, longer wheelbase
The key upgrade is in the dimensions. The new model measures 3,350 mm in length, 1,540 mm in width, and 1,600 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,215 mm—both length and wheelbase are significantly longer than the two-door version. This provides more rear-seat legroom and makes it easier for passengers to get in and out without moving the front seats. The rear seats fold down to a nearly flat floor, increasing cargo capacity for larger items.
Inside, the cabin keeps a simple, contrasting-color design with a small instrument cluster and physical buttons. The 10.3-inch central touchscreen supports 30-second voice commands, Carlink, and HiCar, with CarPlay to be added later. The seats are fully leather-wrapped, a rarity in this segment, and the top trim offers six-way power adjustment for the driver and three-level seat heating, controllable via voice or smartphone.
CATL battery, two range options
The Xiaoma five-door is powered by a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery supplied by CATL, available in two capacities offering CLTC ranges of 222 km and 328 km (approximately 180-265 km WLTP, est.). It supports both AC and DC fast charging on a 400V platform, with a 30-80% charge in about 30 minutes. The top speed is 100 km/h. Standard safety features include ESC, auto hold, electronic parking brake, hill-start assist, and dual front airbags.
The mini EV segment in China is highly competitive, with rivals such as Wuling's Hongguang MINIEV, Geely's Panda, and Changan's Lumin already offering five-door variants. Besturn's Xiaoma has accumulated nearly 300,000 units in sales since its launch, and the new five-door model aims to attract budget-conscious buyers who need a practical, affordable electric runabout for daily commuting and family errands.
