BYD has launched the new Han, a larger version of its flagship sedan, in China. The model starts at a guide price of 235,900 yuan (about $33,200) before taxes and incentives, according to PCauto.
Larger body, familiar powertrains
The new Han features a longer body than its predecessor, offering more interior space. It is available with both BEV (battery-electric) and PHEV (plug-in hybrid) powertrains, giving buyers a choice between pure electric driving and hybrid flexibility.
PCauto reports that the launch includes multiple trim levels, with prices varying accordingly. The BEV version offers a CLTC range of up to 605 km (about 376 miles), though real-world range is typically lower; a WLTP estimate would be around 484 km (est.).
Positioning and market context
The Han has been a key model in BYD's lineup, competing in the mid-to-large sedan segment against both domestic and international rivals. The new version aims to strengthen BYD's position in this segment, which has seen intense competition from other Chinese brands and global automakers.
BYD continues to expand its product portfolio, and the Han's update reflects the company's focus on combining size, technology, and value. The launch comes as China's EV market remains highly competitive, with price cuts and feature upgrades common across the industry.
