AIVA ME7 files with Chinese regulator, targets 200,000-250,000 yuan segment

AIVA, backed by Seres, has filed its first production model ME7 with China's MIIT, a 5-meter BEV SUV with up to 420 kW, 700 km CLTC range, and 800V architecture, aiming at the 200,000-250,000 yuan market.

AIVA, a new electric-vehicle brand backed by Seres, has taken a major step toward launching its first model in China. The AIVA ME7, a large coupe-styled SUV, appeared in the latest filing with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) on October 16, according to Chinese outlet Dian Dong Bang. The filing confirms the vehicle is ready for the domestic market, with production planned at Seres' Fenghuang factory.

The ME7 measures 4,999 mm long, 1,999 mm wide, and 1,616 or 1,626 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 3,050 mm. Its wide, low stance and sloping roofline place it in the mid-to-large coupe SUV category. Buyers can choose from 20-inch or 21-inch wheels, with two styles of spokes and five designs, plus options like red brake calipers and a black floating roof. A lidar unit sits on the roof, signaling a focus on advanced driver assistance.

Power and range

The filing reveals two powertrain options. The single-motor version uses a motor from Chongqing Qingshan Industrial, producing 270 kW (362 hp) peak power, with a top speed of 255 km/h. The dual-motor version adds a 150 kW front motor, bringing combined output to 420 kW (563 hp), while maintaining the same top speed and supporting a 700 kg towing capacity. The battery is a ternary lithium unit from CATL, and earlier disclosures indicate an 800V electrical architecture, a CLTC range of about 700 km, and a 30-80% fast-charge time of roughly 15 minutes. Note that CLTC figures are typically 15-20% more optimistic than WLTP, so the equivalent WLTP range would be around 560-595 km (est.).

Inside, the ME7 uses ByteDance's Doubao large language model for its smart cockpit, while its driver-assistance system comes from Yuanrong Qixing's map-free solution. This deliberately avoids Huawei's Qiankun platform, setting it apart from Seres' AITO brand, which uses Huawei technology.

Pricing and competition

AIVA positions the ME7 for the mainstream market above 200,000 yuan (about $28,200), with expectations centered on the 200,000-250,000 yuan range (about $28,200-$35,200). Those are Chinese guide prices before taxes and incentives. The segment is crowded, with rivals like the Xiaomi YU7, IM LS6, and Zeekr 7X already competing fiercely. The ME7's combination of size, power, and features is designed to carve out a niche, but it faces an uphill battle.

The ME7 is scheduled to make its official debut in 2026, with orders opening in early 2027. The MIIT filing clears the regulatory hurdle, but the real test will come when the price is announced. Consumers in this segment will compare dimensions, performance, and smart features closely, and AIVA will need to deliver on all fronts to succeed.
