Yijing Auto, the premium electric vehicle brand jointly backed by Dongfeng Motor and Huawei, held the first mass delivery ceremony for its X9 family flagship on October 18 at Huawei's Songshan Lake campus in Dongguan, Guangdong province. The event marked the start of a nationwide delivery push across 100 cities, according to Chinese automotive outlet 电动邦 (Dian Dong Bang).
Aaron Kwok, the Hong Kong singer-actor who serves as the X9's global brand ambassador and was the first customer to place an order, attended the ceremony and personally handed over customized key fobs to a group of early owners. Fellow actor Michael Lui, a car enthusiast, also appeared at the event and confirmed he had purchased an X9 after test-driving it on Kwok's recommendation.
Yijing Auto said the X9, which went on sale on September 24, secured 9,157 firm orders within 24 hours of its launch. The company disclosed that the two higher-spec trims, priced at 319,800 yuan (about $45,000) and 359,800 yuan (about $50,700) as limited-time promotional prices, accounted for 95% of orders. The average transaction price exceeded 340,000 yuan (about $47,900), according to the company. These are Chinese guide prices before taxes and incentives.
Dongfeng-Huawei collaboration
The X9 is the first model to emerge from a deep collaboration between Dongfeng and Huawei's Qiankun (Qiankun) intelligent vehicle division, with both companies investing billions of yuan and deploying a joint team of 5,000 engineers. The vehicle integrates Dongfeng's 57 years of car-making experience with Huawei's full-stack intelligent technologies, including the HarmonySpace 6 cockpit, which features dual 17.2-inch screens and an in-cabin sensing system.
The X9 comes standard with Huawei's ADS 5 advanced driver assistance system, which includes a 896-line lidar, and is built on a million-yuan-class all-aluminum chassis. The company says the vehicle offers a five-star package of intelligent driving, comfort, space, handling, and safety, bringing features typically found in 500,000-yuan (about $70,400) vehicles to the 300,000-yuan (about $42,300) segment.
During the delivery event, Yijing Auto executives and Huawei's vice president for intelligent automotive solutions, Chi Linchun, joined a live-streamed test of the X9's ADAS on public roads between the Yijing customer center and Songshan Lake. The company also outlined its service plans, including a "15-minute smart service circle" that leverages Huawei's Huizong service standards and access to 2.8 million charging points across Dongfeng and Huawei's charging networks.
Expansion plans
Yijing Auto said it aims to have showrooms in 90 cities and service coverage in 150 cities by October 2026, with 400 experience store touchpoints. The brand is positioning itself as a "Chinese flagship" choice for families, combining state-owned enterprise manufacturing with Huawei's technology.
The delivery event also featured a birthday celebration for an owner, with Kwok and Lui joining in. Yijing Auto awarded Kwok a "Best Ambassador" certificate, and the company's brand general manager, Zeng Qinglin, emphasized that delivery marks the beginning of the company's relationship with customers, promising high standards in quality and service.
