Zunjie Auto, the premium electric-vehicle brand backed by Huawei, has responded to concerns over the structural integrity of its brake pedal bracket after a video circulating online sparked debate. In a statement released on October 8, the company said it takes the issue seriously because the braking system directly affects occupant safety, and it outlined its development and validation standards, real-world usage data, and plans for improvement.
According to Zunjie, the braking system was developed and validated to standards exceeding China's national requirements, including GB 21670-2025 and GB 7258-2026, as well as industry standard QC/T 788-2018. The company emphasized that since deliveries began, no brake pedal bracket base fractures have occurred in actual user scenarios.
However, Zunjie did not stop at stating that no failures have been observed. The company stressed that user safety remains its top priority, and even when faced with non-standard extreme test conditions, it aims to provide a higher safety margin. Based on this principle, Zunjie will optimize the design of the relevant components and offer free upgrades to customers who have already taken delivery.
Systemic review planned
Beyond the component-level fix, Zunjie said it will extend the improvement to a broader systemic level. The company will conduct a comprehensive review and reinforcement of the design validation, test boundaries, and production quality management for the affected parts, with the goal of continuously strengthening its safety systems.
The response follows a video that raised questions about the brake pedal bracket base, prompting Zunjie to address the matter publicly. The company's statement was reported by Gasgoo and republished by D1EV, a Chinese electric-vehicle news outlet.
Zunjie is a joint venture between Huawei and JAC, focusing on ultra-luxury electric vehicles. The brand's first model, the S800, is a large luxury sedan that competes in the high-end segment of China's rapidly growing BEV (battery-electric vehicle) market.
