Dongfeng Fengshen L8+ launches from 129,900 yuan with 700 TOPS ADAS

Dongfeng's Fengshen L8+ SUV launches in China from 129,900 yuan (about $18,300), claiming the only 700 TOPS ADAS in its class and a CLTC range of 220 km (WLTP est. 187 km).

Dongfeng's Fengshen brand launched the L8+ SUV on October 23, with a limited-time trade-in price ranging from 129,900 yuan to 159,900 yuan (about $18,300 to $22,500). The model is positioned as the brand's flagship for intelligent driving and comfort, according to PCauto.

700 TOPS ADAS and world model

The L8+ is the first model in the 150,000-yuan (about $21,100) segment to feature a 700 TOPS compute platform - the Nvidia Thor-U chip, the same used in Xiaomi's SU7. That compute power is 3.5 times the mainstream level in its class, according to the company, and is designed to support future software updates for five years.

The vehicle's Tianyuan Zhijia T800 system integrates Momenta's R7 world model, a leading ADAS algorithm that Dongfeng claims rivals Huawei's Qiankun ADS Max. The L8+ is among the first production vehicles globally to ship with the full R7 capability without needing an over-the-air update. The system enables parking-to-parking autonomous driving, including self-parking in narrow or unmarked spaces, and supports memory parking across up to seven floors and three kilometers.

The L8+ also offers navigation on autopilot (NOA) without high-definition maps, covering highways, cities, and even rural roads - a feature the company calls "rural NOA." Dongfeng says the high compute power allows the ADAS to coordinate with the chassis, powertrain, and cabin, reducing motion sickness during autonomous driving.

Powertrain and comfort

The L8+ is powered by a 4-speed hybrid transmission with a thermal efficiency of 45.18%. Its 30.3 kWh battery provides a CLTC electric-only range of 220 km (WLTP est. 187 km) and a combined CLTC range of over 1,500 km (WLTP est. 1,275 km). The company says the vehicle can travel from Chengdu to Lhasa without recharging.

Interior features include a "cloud-soft" sofa, rear ceiling entertainment screen, rear cooler, airline-style tray tables, and a 19-speaker WANOS surround sound system. The cabin is certified as "zero formaldehyde" by the China Automotive Technology and Research Center. The battery pack uses 1200 MPa armored protection, and Dongfeng offers a lifetime warranty against thermal runaway for the battery and electric drive system.

The L8+ is available in China with a guide price before taxes and incentives starting at 129,900 yuan. The launch follows a live-streamed test on the "108 switchbacks" of the Everest highway, where the vehicle completed the route without driver intervention.
