VW Anhui launches ID. UNYX 09 electric fastback from 169,900 yuan

Volkswagen Anhui has launched the ID. UNYX 09, a mid-to-large electric fastback developed with Xpeng, priced from 179,900 to 249,900 yuan, with a promotional entry price of 169,900 yuan. It features a 91.96kWh LFP battery, 800V architecture, and up to 755km CLTC range.

Volkswagen Anhui has officially launched the ID. UNYX 09, an intelligent electric fastback sedan developed jointly with Xpeng, according to NetEase Auto. The model is offered in three trims with a Chinese guide price range of 179,900 to 249,900 yuan (about $25,300 to $35,200), before taxes and incentives. With a limited-time Double 11 promotion, the entry price drops to 169,900 yuan (about $23,900).

The ID. UNYX 09 enters the 200,000-yuan (about $28,200) mid-to-large pure electric sedan segment, a market already crowded with domestic models. In September 2026, the Xiaomi SU7 sold approximately 15,800 units, leading sedans above 200,000 yuan, while the Zeekr 007, IM L6, and BYD Seal 08/Han EV also compete in the same price band. The new VW faces direct competition on both configuration and price rather than an open market.

Specs and performance

The ID. UNYX 09 measures 5,081mm long, 1,980mm wide, and 1,509mm tall, with a 3,030mm wheelbase. It features a fastback three-box design, 21-inch wheels, Brembo calipers, and DLP matrix headlights that can project a lane light carpet. The car rides on a 91.963kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery from CATL, using Shenxing cells, and an 800V platform. VW claims 5C ultra-fast charging with peak power exceeding 520kW, adding about 250km of range in five minutes and charging from 30% to 80% in about 10.2 minutes.

Two powertrain options are available. The rear-wheel-drive single-motor version produces 230kW (about 308hp) and 465N·m, with a CLTC range of 755km and a claimed 0-100km/h time of 6.8 seconds. The dual-motor all-wheel-drive version combines a 140kW front motor and a 230kW rear motor for a system output of 370kW (about 496hp) and 695N·m, with a CLTC range of 705km and a claimed 0-100km/h time of 4.6 seconds. Note that CLTC range figures are typically 15-20% more optimistic than WLTP; the corresponding WLTP estimates would be approximately 604-642km and 564-599km respectively (est.).

Standard equipment includes the Turing AI chip with 750 TOPS of computing power, supporting the Xingyun VLA large model for assisted driving. The system offers highway and urban NOA (city advanced driver assistance), memory parking, remote parking, and follow-trail reversing. The sensor suite comprises 11 cameras, 12 ultrasonic radars, and three millimeter-wave radars, with no lidar. The actual availability of urban NOA in specific cities will be confirmed after delivery.

Positioning against rivals

The high-spec and all-wheel-drive versions add Vibrac dual-chamber air suspension with DCC dynamic damping, front double-wishbone and rear multi-link suspension. Inside, there is a 15.6-inch central screen powered by a Qualcomm 8295P chip, an 85-inch AR-HUD, and a 20-speaker 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos sound system. These features represent a significant upgrade over traditional joint-venture electric models.

The entry rear-wheel-drive version offers the strongest value proposition, with the highest range in its class at 755km and a price 30,000 to 50,000 yuan (about $4,200 to $7,000) lower than rivals. However, its single motor produces 230kW and a 6.8-second 0-100km/h time, which is more relaxed than the Xiaomi SU7's 5.28 seconds or the Zeekr 007's 370kW rear-drive output. The long-range version is positioned around 220,000 yuan (about $31,000), competing with the SU7 Pro's 902km range and larger-battery versions of the Zeekr 007 and IM L6.

The all-wheel-drive version's strengths lie in its air suspension, chassis tuning, and German calibration rather than outright performance. Compared with the SU7's performance and smart ecosystem, the Zeekr 007's 6C charging and four-wheel-drive performance, and the IM L6's digital chassis, the ID. UNYX 09 combines German chassis tuning, Xpeng-style intelligence, and a lower entry price, targeting buyers who value joint-venture quality without compromising on smart features.
