Xiaomi Auto tops 40,000 monthly deliveries for first time in September

Xiaomi Auto delivered more than 40,000 vehicles in September, a milestone that signals its production system has matured, according to a report from Gasgoo.

Xiaomi Auto delivered more than 40,000 vehicles in September, crossing a key threshold for the first time, according to a report from Chinese automotive outlet Gasgoo. The figure, announced on October 1, marks a significant step for the smartphone maker as it scales up its electric-vehicle business.

Reaching 40,000 units in a single month typically indicates that a carmaker has moved past the early production ramp-up phase, with supply chain coordination, assembly line efficiency, and delivery networks operating at a stable, mature level. For Xiaomi, which entered the automotive industry as a newcomer, the milestone underscores its ability to build a reliable manufacturing and delivery system.

Product lineup and market pressure

Xiaomi's current lineup spans several market segments, allowing it to attract a broader range of customers. The company's models include the SU7 sedan and the YU7 SUV, both battery-electric vehicles (BEVs). This diversified portfolio has helped expand its audience in China's competitive EV market.

The achievement comes amid intense competition in the 200,000 to 300,000 yuan (about $28,000 to $42,000) price segment, where traditional automakers' EV sub-brands are pushing back and established startups are accelerating product updates and driver-assistance technology. Xiaomi's ability to maintain this delivery pace will be tested in the coming months, as it faces pressure to convert its order backlog into sustained sales.

As its vehicle base grows, Xiaomi also faces increasing demands on after-sales service, charging infrastructure, and vehicle lifecycle support. The company will need to expand its service network and charging solutions to keep pace with the rising number of vehicles on the road.

Outlook for the fourth quarter

With the fourth quarter typically a peak sales period in China, Xiaomi is expected to push for higher annual delivery targets. The September result provides a strong foundation, but sustaining or exceeding the 40,000-unit monthly pace will require continued production efficiency and brand momentum.

Gasgoo's report notes that Xiaomi's performance reflects its overall organizational capability, but the company still faces long-term challenges in a market defined by price wars and technological rivalry. Whether Xiaomi can maintain this trajectory into the final months of 2026 remains to be seen.
