Voyah Dreamer 9 right-hand-drive version to launch in Hong Kong

Voyah's Dreamer 9 premium MPV becomes the first new-energy MPV in China's national automobile museum, and a right-hand-drive version is set to enter Hong Kong as the brand's first overseas market.

Voyah, the premium electric-vehicle brand under Dongfeng, has announced that a right-hand-drive version of its Dreamer 9 MPV will soon go on sale in Hong Kong. The news came alongside confirmation that the Dreamer 9 has been inducted into the China Automobile Museum, becoming the first new-energy MPV to join the collection, according to Chinese automotive outlet Gasgoo.

Museum recognition and market expansion

The Dreamer 9's entry into the national museum in Beijing on October 19 is a nod to the model's product strength, Voyah said. More significantly, the right-hand-drive variant destined for Hong Kong marks the brand's first step into an overseas market, testing the vehicle against real-world conditions beyond mainland China.

Hong Kong's premium MPV segment has long been dominated by foreign brands. As Chinese new-energy vehicles have improved in quality, models like the Dreamer 9 are now competing in that space. The city is also seen as a strategic springboard for mainland automakers eyeing other right-hand-drive markets, including Southeast Asia and Oceania, allowing them to adapt and validate vehicles before a wider rollout.

For Voyah, choosing Hong Kong as the Dreamer 9's first export destination offers clear strategic value. The company can complete user validation, regulatory adaptation and market operations in the city, laying the groundwork for broader right-hand-drive expansion later.

Global ambitions for Chinese premium MPVs

The two moves — museum induction and Hong Kong launch — together illustrate how Chinese premium new-energy MPVs are charting a path to global markets. Voyah's approach uses Hong Kong as a foothold, leveraging the vehicle's overall capability to gradually open up international opportunities.

The Dreamer 9 is a battery-electric MPV (BEV) that sits at the top of Voyah's lineup. While the company has not disclosed pricing or specifications for the Hong Kong version, the model in mainland China is positioned as a high-end people carrier competing with the likes of the Denza D9 and Zeekr 009.

Voyah's move comes as several Chinese EV makers are stepping up efforts in Hong Kong and other right-hand-drive markets. The city's proximity to mainland manufacturing and its status as a regional hub make it a practical testing ground for brands seeking to build overseas credibility before entering larger markets.
