Voyah, the premium arm of Chinese automaker Dongfeng, will officially launch its Dreamer 9 flagship MPV on Sept 22 at 6 p.m. Beijing time, according to NetEase Auto. The model, which opened pre-sales earlier, is priced between 429,900 yuan and 529,900 yuan (about $60,550 to $74,630) before taxes and incentives, spanning three trims - Ultra, Ultra+ and Lizun - with five configurations covering both plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and battery-electric (BEV) versions.
The Dreamer 9 is positioned as the world's first Chinese luxury MPV with a rising hood ornament, combining advanced technology with original Chinese aesthetics. It is built on an L3-ready architecture and features Huawei's Qiankun ADS 5 driver assistance system, a 37-sensor suite including a 896-line main lidar and three solid-state blind-spot lidars, plus the HarmonySpace 6 cockpit. The vehicle rides on an 800V high-voltage platform and Voyah's Huju chassis P with three-chamber air springs and dual-valve electronically controlled damping.
Design and interior
Exterior highlights include a large vertical chrome grille, a retractable illuminated hood ornament crafted from 2,520 precision-cut facets, and HUAWEI XPIXEL dual-million-pixel full-color headlights with a combined 2.6 million pixels - over 40 times that of a typical matrix LED unit. The headlights can project navigation arrows, lane-departure warnings and pedestrian crossing indicators onto the road, and offer customizable welcome light effects. The body features a two-tone paint scheme with gold-trimmed waistlines, 20-inch mirror-polished wheels, and second- and third-row LC adaptive dimming glass for privacy.
Inside, the Dreamer 9 adopts a "heaven and earth embrace" design concept with 18 Nordic maple trim pieces in purple-jade white or sandalwood brown. The front cabin has dual 15.6-inch Huawei smart screens, while the HarmonySpace 6 system runs on a new MoLA 2.0 architecture with a multimodal large model for improved voice response. Second-row seats offer what Voyah calls the world's first combination of rotation, lateral slide, zero-gravity and mechanical massage, with 45-, 90- and 180-degree rotation options and a 147-degree reclining zero-gravity mode. The cabin also includes a 13-liter dual-door smart cooler with a temperature range of -6°C to 50°C, a 21.4-inch ceiling screen, and ventilation, heating and massage for all seats.
Powertrain and range
All versions use an 800V platform. The PHEV variant pairs a 1.5T engine with front and rear motors delivering a combined 555 kW (745 hp), and comes with a 65 kWh battery offering WLTC electric-only range of 300 km or 291 km depending on trim. It supports 5C ultra-fast charging, going from 20% to 80% in 12 minutes. The BEV version has front and rear motors rated at 175 kW and 300 kW respectively, with a 120 kWh battery providing a CLTC range of 701 km - equivalent to roughly 595-630 km under WLTP testing, which is typically 15-20% more conservative than the Chinese cycle.
The chassis includes a VMC intelligent domain control system that adjusts drive force, braking and suspension parameters in milliseconds, plus a bidirectional 10-degree rear-wheel steering system that gives the 5.3-meter-long MPV a turning radius comparable to a midsize sedan. Voyah says the setup improves stability in emergency lane changes and on wet roads.
The Dreamer 9 enters a competitive Chinese luxury MPV segment that includes the Denza D9 and Zeekr 009, with Huawei's involvement in both ADAS and cockpit software expected to be a key differentiator. Deliveries are expected to begin shortly after the Sept 22 launch event.
