Voyah, the premium arm of Chinese automaker Dongfeng, launched its flagship Dreamer 9 MPV in China on the evening of Sept 22, according to NetEase Auto. The new model is offered in three trims - Ultra, Ultra+ and Lizun - spanning plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and battery-electric (BEV) powertrains, with six configurations priced between 419,900 yuan and 529,900 yuan (about $59,100 to $74,600). All prices are Chinese guide prices before taxes and incentives.
Huawei tech inside
The Dreamer 9 is the first Voyah model to integrate Huawei's Qiankun ADS 5 advanced driver assistance system, paired with four lidar units including a main 896-line sensor, plus 37 perception sensors in total. The cabin runs on Huawei's HarmonySpace 6 infotainment system with dual 15.6-inch displays, and the vehicle rides on an 800V electrical architecture. Voyah describes the platform as designed for L3-level autonomous driving readiness, though regulatory approval for such systems in China remains pending.
Exterior highlights include what Voyah calls the world's first retractable illuminated hood ornament, made from 2,520 precision-cut facets, and Huawei's XPIXEL dual-million-pixel full-color headlights with a combined 2.6 million pixels - over 40 times the resolution of conventional matrix LED units. The headlights can project navigation arrows, lane-departure warnings and pedestrian crossing alerts onto the road ahead, as well as custom welcome light shows. The body features a two-tone paint scheme with 20-inch mirror-polished wheels, and second- and third-row windows use LC adaptive dimming glass that switches between transparent and privacy modes.
Inside, the Dreamer 9 offers a rotating, sliding, zero-gravity second-row seat with mechanical massage, adjustable to 45, 90 or 180 degrees, and a one-touch recline to 147 degrees. The cabin includes a 13-liter dual-door smart refrigerator with a temperature range of -6°C to 50°C, a 21.4-inch ceiling screen, and 18 Nordic maple wood trim panels. All seats come with ventilation, heating and massage functions.
Powertrain and range
The PHEV version pairs a 1.5T engine with front and rear electric motors delivering a combined 555 kW (744 hp), and comes with a 65 kWh battery offering a WLTC electric-only range of 300 km or 291 km depending on configuration. It supports 5C ultra-fast charging, replenishing from 20% to 80% in 12 minutes. The BEV variant uses a 120 kWh battery with a CLTC range of 701 km - roughly equivalent to a WLTP range of about 590-600 km (est.), given that CLTC figures are typically 15-20% more optimistic than WLTP.
The Dreamer 9 rides on Voyah's 'Tiger Crouch' chassis P, featuring three-chamber air springs and dual-valve electronically controlled dampers, managed by a VMC intelligent domain control system that adjusts drive torque, braking and suspension parameters in milliseconds. A rear-wheel steering system with up to 10 degrees of articulation gives the 5.3-meter-long MPV a turning radius comparable to a mid-size sedan.
The launch marks Voyah's latest push into the high-end MPV segment, where it competes with the Denza D9 and Zeekr 009. With Huawei's ADAS and cabin tech integrated throughout, the Dreamer 9 positions itself as a technology-forward alternative in China's increasingly crowded premium MPV market.
