At the fourth Gasgoo AI-Defined Car Forum held on September 18, Liu Xinlong, head of AI application solutions for carmakers at Volcano Engine, delivered a presentation titled "Practical Sharing on AI Transformation for Carmakers." He argued that as agent architectures converge, AI is now ready to operate within enterprise production environments, and urged companies to invest in what he called "compound-interest projects"—structuring business processes and codifying execution manuals to lay the groundwork for future AI capabilities, according to Gasgoo.
Digital employees: four pillars
Liu identified four essential elements for deploying digital employees: model capability, a secure agent architecture, an IM platform context, and accumulated AI capabilities. He cited the company's Doubao work assistant as an example, noting its use in cross-system operations, user research, data analysis, video creation and replication, travel management, resume screening, and financial reimbursement.
On the product side, Liu shared case studies involving intelligent in-cabin assistants, 3D desktop avatar generation, and personalized vehicle wraps. The in-cabin assistant, developed in collaboration with Tesla, offers persona-based interaction, news retrieval, and navigation integration. The cost of generating a 3D desktop avatar, he said, can be kept under one yuan (about 14 US cents).
Exploring developer toolchains
Volcano Engine is also exploring embedded development toolchains, aiming to link with various R&D tools to provide carmakers with more development environment support. The company has been working in the automotive sector since 2019 and has established cooperation with most Chinese carmakers on various fronts, Liu added.
