PARIS - French supplier Valeo used the 2026 Paris Motor Show, which opened on October 12, to present a broad portfolio spanning driver assistance, software-defined vehicles, electrification and intelligent lighting, according to Chinese outlet Gasgoo. The company highlighted how artificial intelligence and software are moving from research into production vehicle development.
On the autonomous driving side, Valeo showed its VSS360 integrated safety system, a single-box architecture covering L1 and L2 driver assistance functions with support for L2+ highway navigation assist (NOA, or assisted driving on mapped highways). The company also displayed its SCALA 3 lidar, aimed at L3 and L4 autonomy, which it says can detect obstacles beyond 200 metres and supports automated driving at speeds up to 130 km/h (81 mph).
Software shortens development cycles
In software, Valeo introduced its anSWer platform, which integrates vehicle-validated applications, middleware and cloud-based digital twin verification to help automakers compress development and testing timelines. Chief executive Christophe Périllat said that with AI and software tools, Valeo has been able to shorten some development cycles to a matter of months.
Electrification was a central theme of the display. Valeo brought its 800V integrated electric platform, silicon carbide inverters, bidirectional AC chargers and new thermal management solutions. The company claims its single-fluid cooling system can support a 0 to 80 percent battery charge in 12 minutes while cutting the battery carbon footprint by 50 percent, though it noted performance depends on the specific battery system and application conditions.
Valeo also showed a 1.3-million-pixel high-definition lighting system, its AquaBlade wiper technology, a panoramic head-up display and an in-car immersive gaming platform called Racer XR. The supplier additionally presented a remanufacturing business for automotive electronic components.
Suppliers shift from hardware to systems
The exhibit layout signals that Valeo is strengthening coordination across software, driver assistance and electrification systems. As automakers accelerate upgrades to their electronic and electrical architectures, traditional component suppliers are increasingly competing not just on individual hardware performance but on system integration, software development efficiency and the ability to deliver at scale.
Valeo's Paris presence comes as Chinese brands also used the show to push into Europe. Avatr, the premium brand backed by Changan and CATL, displayed three models at the Paris Motor Show and said it will formally enter the European market in 2027, according to Gasgoo.
