Aito, the premium EV brand backed by Huawei and Seres, will open pre-sales for its updated M8 SUV on September 30, according to a report from Autohome. The refreshed model introduces Huawei's latest Qiankun ADS 5 intelligent driving system and adds new exterior and interior color options, while retaining the choice of range-extender and battery-electric powertrains.
Design and interior updates
The new M8 largely keeps the current model's design, but adds two new paint colors: Sky Curtain Blue and Cang Rong Green. The closed front grille and full-width light bar remain, while the lower intake adopts a denser honeycomb pattern for a sportier look. New alloy wheels feature a dark metallic finish with high-gloss cut details. At the rear, the taillight cluster has been redesigned for a more modern appearance.
Inside, the cabin gains Sand Brown and Moon White color schemes. The integrated display has a noticeably slimmer bezel, increasing the visual screen area. Seats are upholstered in Nappa leather with a new diamond-quilted pattern, and the headliner is wrapped in microfiber suede. The M8 is offered in five- and six-seat layouts, with the six-seat version featuring dual zero-gravity seats in the second row that support leg rests and massage functions.
Powertrain and range
Two powertrain options are available. The range-extender version (EREV, which pairs an internal combustion engine with an electric motor) uses a 1.5-liter turbo engine producing 118 kW (158 hp) and front and rear electric motors with a combined output of 397 kW (532 hp) and 598 Nm of torque. It comes with battery packs of 75.408 kWh or 56.036 kWh, offering CLTC electric-only ranges of 256 km, 358 km, and 365 km (approximately 205-292 miles WLTP est.).
The pure electric version (BEV) also uses dual motors with a combined 387 kW (519 hp) and 597 Nm. It is available with 120.04329 kWh or 97.644 kWh batteries, providing CLTC ranges of 675 km, 708 km, 800 km, and 830 km (roughly 540-664 miles WLTP est.). Note that CLTC figures are typically 15-20% more optimistic than WLTP results.
According to Autohome, the updated M8 will be available with either five- or six-seat configurations, and the company plans to release full pricing details when pre-sales begin. No official price has been announced yet, but the current M8 starts at around 300,000 yuan (about $42,250) in China before taxes and incentives.
