UAES launches new Zone ECU platform into mass production

United Automotive Electronic Systems (UAES) has begun mass production of its new Zone ECU platform, integrating multiple vehicle functions into a single controller and supporting up to ASIL D functional safety.

United Automotive Electronic Systems (UAES), a Chinese automotive electronics supplier, has started mass production of its new Zone ECU (electronic control unit) platform, according to a report by D1EV. The platform is designed to consolidate multiple vehicle functions into a single controller, supporting a wide range of vehicle models and configurations.

Integration and adaptability

The new Zone ECU breaks traditional functional domain barriers by integrating body control, passive entry and passive start (PEPS), seats, windows, sunroof, eFuse, air conditioning, refrigerator, and suspension control into one unit. The main and passenger Zone ECUs achieve pin utilization rates of 93.12% and 87.88%, respectively. The main controller, with just over 300 pins, handles up to 50 high-side drivers, 47 half-bridges, and 20 PWM inputs, enabling a “one chip, multiple functions” approach.

The platform is designed for high compatibility across different brands and offers multiple hardware tiers, from entry-level to high-end configurations. This flexibility aims to help customers reduce costs and improve efficiency. By using a unified software stack and efficient routing mechanisms, the system enables seamless cross-domain collaboration within a single MCU. Pre-configured hardware gradients and offline calibration data allow the system to automatically adapt to different configurations, shortening development cycles and improving production efficiency.

Safety and security

The Zone ECU platform addresses electromagnetic interference (EMI) challenges through integrated shielding, low-impedance grounding, and harmonic suppression, all without altering the PCB layout. It also builds a full-chain trust chain from startup to communication, diagnosis, and production, supporting a “one machine, one secret” debugging scheme to prevent intrusion and tampering. The platform complies with ISO 21434 and UN R155 standards, covering the entire lifecycle from R&D to after-sales service, and protects sensitive data and user privacy. It supports functional safety up to ASIL D.

UAES introduced its first Zone ECU in 2023. As of the end of August 2026, the product has been adopted in more than 60 vehicle models across over ten customers, with expected shipments exceeding 3 million units for the full year of 2026. The company says it will continue to iterate on the technology and collaborate with customers to develop safer, smarter, and more efficient mobility solutions.
