SAIC's Roewe brand has opened pre-sales for the Jiayue 07, a family SUV it calls the first AI-native vehicle, with three trims priced between 137,800 yuan and 152,800 yuan (about $19,400-$21,500). The top trim's 152,800 yuan price tag brings the AI concept into the mainstream family SUV segment, according to Chinese outlet D1EV.
Specs and AI features
The Jiayue 07 comes standard with a lidar and the XHEART X7 dedicated large-model chip, and includes a 12,000 yuan Momenta R7 world-model advanced driving package at no extra cost. The model is a range-extender EV (EREV) with a 1.5T range extender producing 72 kW (97 hp) and a rear drive motor rated at 162 kW (217 hp). It offers two CATL battery options, 32.6 kWh and 44.2 kWh, providing a CLTC pure-electric range of up to 320 km (199 miles) and a combined CLTC range of 1,480 km (920 miles). Note that CLTC figures are typically 15-20% more optimistic than WLTP, so the equivalent WLTP range would be lower. The WLTC fuel consumption when the battery is depleted is 5.19 L/100 km.
The vehicle features a nine-door, four-longitudinal-beam high-strength body structure, which the company claims exceeds national safety standards. A video demonstration showed the vehicle maintaining control after a tire blowout at 140 km/h (87 mph). It also includes an AI mCDC adaptive suspension and a minimum turning radius of 5.47 meters.
Comfort features include a certified quiet cabin, front dual zero-gravity seats, an AI eye-protection screen, and an AI ambient lighting system. The Jiayue 07 is the first vehicle to integrate Doubao, a large language model from ByteDance, into the entire vehicle control system, connecting to over 2,000 control ports. This allows the system to execute actions directly from user intent, such as generating a personalized podcast during a morning commute or coordinating multiple errands like picking up children, charging, and dining. The system supports dialect recognition and vague commands, like adjusting the air conditioning when a passenger says "a bit cold."
Pricing and availability
Pre-sale benefits include a 999 yuan deposit that counts as 2,000 yuan toward the purchase price, a free Insta360 GO3S thumb camera for the first 10,000 locked orders, lifetime warranty on the three-electric system, and a 6-year/150,000 km vehicle warranty. The Doubao cabin assistant, valued at 20,000 yuan, and the Momenta R7 advanced driving package, valued at 12,000 yuan, are free for all trims during the pre-sale period. The vehicle is already available at nearly 500 Roewe direct-sales stores and 100 partner showrooms across China.
This launch marks the first time Doubao has moved beyond smartphones into a vehicle. Roewe's collaboration with Doubao began in April 2025, and the Roewe M7 DMH, launched in September, already uses Doubao's deep-thinking model, with daily voice feature usage reportedly rising from 60% to 90%. SAIC plans to roll out more models with this technology this year, including some from SAIC Audi. Volcanic Engine, ByteDance's automotive AI arm, counts Dongfeng, Chery, Seres, and Tesla China among its clients, with Doubao processing over 120 trillion tokens daily.
The Jiayue 07's approach of integrating AI into the vehicle control layer, rather than just adding a chatbot, could set a new benchmark for AI in cars. Whether it translates into strong sales will be seen in the coming months' delivery data, according to D1EV.
