SAIC's Roewe brand announced that its Jiayue 07, a mid-size SUV and the first production vehicle to integrate ByteDance's Doubao in-car assistant, has secured more than 30,000 pre-orders (deposit orders) within two weeks of its pre-sale launch on September 21, according to PCauto. The model is offered in three trims with pre-sale prices ranging from 137,800 to 152,800 yuan (about $19,400 to $21,500), which are Chinese guide prices before taxes and incentives.
The Jiayue 07 was co-developed by Roewe and Volcano Engine, ByteDance's cloud and AI arm. It is positioned as a mid-size SUV with a length of 4,900 mm, a wheelbase of 2,908 mm, and a 5-seat layout. The vehicle is powered by a 1.5L range-extender hybrid system, with a CLTC pure-electric range of up to 320 km. Standard equipment includes the Doubao cabin assistant and the Momenta R7 driver-assistance system.
Design and Interior
The exterior design was led by Josef Kaban, SAIC's global vice president of design, who previously worked at Rolls-Royce and BMW. The front features a 2.24-meter integrated light bar with nearly 3,000 individually sculpted star-like elements. The car is offered in six colors: Dragon Crystal Purple, Agate Grey, Sapphire Blue, Pearl Black, Diamond White, and Emerald Green.
Inside, the cabin is minimalist, with a 15.6-inch floating central touchscreen, a full digital instrument cluster, and a three-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel. The Doubao assistant, located behind the central screen, supports animated expressions, Face ID recognition, and integration with the Doubao app on smartphones, including voice control in dialects and foreign languages. Notable comfort features include front zero-gravity seats with heating, ventilation, and massage, a 15.6-inch ceiling screen for rear passengers, a 20-speaker audio system, a 7.5-liter refrigerator, and a 143-degree reclining rear seat. A first-in-industry "Queen's Beauty Table" is available for the front passenger.
Performance and Range
The Jiayue 07 is equipped with the Momenta R7 driver-assistance system, powered by an XHEART X7 AI chip, with a sensor suite of one lidar, 11 cameras, 12 ultrasonic radars, and one millimeter-wave radar. It supports highway and urban navigation-assisted driving and all-scenario smart parking.
The powertrain consists of a 1.5L range extender producing 72 kW (97 hp) and a rear electric motor delivering 162 kW (217 hp). The WLTC fuel consumption when the battery is depleted is 5.19 L/100km, with a top speed of 180 km/h. Buyers can choose between 32.6 kWh and 44.2 kWh CATL battery packs, offering CLTC pure-electric ranges of 220 km and 320 km respectively. The CLTC combined range is up to 1,480 km. For reference, the CLTC cycle is typically 15-20% more optimistic than WLTP, so the 320 km figure would correspond to roughly 256-272 km on the WLTP cycle (est.). Fast charging from 30% to 80% takes 15 minutes.
