SAIC-GM-Wuling, the joint venture between SAIC, General Motors and Guangxi Auto, has reached a series of production and sales milestones across seven overseas markets in recent weeks, according to Chinese automotive outlet Gasgoo. The company's global expansion now spans electric passenger cars and commercial vehicles, with projects moving from vehicle exports toward localized manufacturing.
In India, the F520SR EV went on sale on August 26 and passed the SOP-PQRR review on September 3, officially entering mass production. The model has accumulated more than 10,000 orders to date. In Indonesia, the E112CR passed its SOP gate on September 10, with 1,923 units produced and 1,012 delivered. Meanwhile, the E260R MY26 completed its iterative development and delivered 1,440 sets of production orders together with the supply chain.
New markets and new formats
In Egypt, the 310S CKD (completely knocked down) project achieved SOP on September 3, marking the model's first entry into the Egyptian market. In Thailand and Hong Kong, the E112CR passed its S&SOP gate on September 9, with the first batch of 216 production units rolling off the line. Vietnam saw three CKD projects - the F520M, N510M and E110C - complete assembly and roll-off.
The Philippines market welcomed the N350V EV, a nine-seat passenger vehicle positioned as a high-value option that supports European-standard charging. The project went from concept to production in just 3.5 months. In Mexico, the F520S completed real-vehicle testing in Mexicali under ambient temperatures of 48-51 degrees Celsius, setting the stage for SOP at the end of September.
SAIC-GM-Wuling said it is pushing its overseas business to transform from single-product exports to a systemic approach, deepening its global layout and localized production. The company's moves come as Chinese automakers increasingly seek to build assembly operations abroad to navigate tariffs and local-content requirements in key markets.
