Quectel, a Shanghai-based maker of wireless communication modules, has been named to the China Auto New Supply Chain Top 100 for the second consecutive year. The award, presented at the 8th Golden Steering Wheel Awards ceremony in Shanghai on October 23, was organized by Gasgoo, a Chinese automotive industry media outlet.
The award recognizes companies in areas such as ADAS (advanced driver assistance systems), smart cockpits, automotive software, and artificial intelligence. Quectel's win reflects its growing role in supplying key components for China's electric-vehicle (EV) industry, particularly in the fast-evolving domain of connected and intelligent vehicles.
Cross-domain integration
Quectel said it is responding to a trend in the industry toward integrating cockpit, telematics (T-BOX), and driver-assistance domains. The company has built a range of solutions, from entry-level to flagship, that combine cockpit and connectivity functions on a single platform. This approach helps automakers reduce development costs when building multiple vehicle models on different chip architectures.
One of its flagship products, the AS830M, is based on Qualcomm's QCM8538 chip, which uses a 4-nanometer process. The module offers 200K DMIPS of CPU computing power and 48 TOPS of NPU AI performance, enabling large language models to run on the device itself. Quectel says the solution is suited for mid-to-high-end models that require advanced multimedia processing and multi-screen interaction.
In terms of supply chain independence, Quectel's AR59xUA series 5G modules integrate components from Chinese chipmakers UNISOC and HuaDa BeiDou, helping automakers build more secure and self-reliant supply chains. The company also offers the AG820T-CN, a high-performance cockpit and connectivity module based on UNISOC's UIS7870 platform, which it says offers a domestically produced, cost-effective option for automakers seeking greater autonomy.
Global expansion
As China's auto industry accelerates its global expansion, Quectel says it is leveraging the country's rapid iteration cycles, complex scenarios, and mass-production validation to improve cross-regional coordination, product adaptation, and global delivery capabilities. The company's automotive products now serve more than 40 mainstream car brands and over 60 Tier 1 suppliers worldwide, according to the Gasgoo report.
Quectel's recognition comes as China's EV supply chain increasingly becomes a global benchmark, with companies like Quectel playing a key role in enabling smarter, more connected vehicles. The award underscores the growing importance of Chinese suppliers in the global automotive technology ecosystem.
