Representatives from Piper Sandler, D.E. Shaw and ODDO BHF, three overseas investment banks and funds, recently visited Gasgoo, a Shanghai-based automotive data and information platform, to discuss the current state and outlook of China's auto industry, according to Gasgoo.
The talks focused on new-energy vehicles (NEVs), vehicle intelligence, industry competition and globalisation, as China's auto market undergoes rapid change. Gasgoo shared its long-term research and market observations on where the country's automotive sector is heading.
Gasgoo, which describes itself as a professional platform for the automotive industry, provides research, data insights and industry communication to global supply chains and institutions. The visit was intended to deepen understanding between overseas capital and China's car sector, the company said.
What Gasgoo does
Gasgoo Group positions itself as a China-based, globally focused data and information services platform. Beyond cars, it has incubated new business lines in robotics and low-altitude aircraft. Its mission is to "discover good companies, promote good technology and empower industry professionals," it said.
The company offers what it calls "5S" services covering supply-chain matching, strategic analysis, branding, overseas expansion and system resources, aiming to reduce information asymmetry and support companies going global.
Gasgoo said it will continue to strengthen ties with global automotive players and related institutions to track the evolution of China's auto industry.
Why it matters
The visit comes as foreign investors increasingly seek clarity on China's EV market, which is dominated by domestic brands such as BYD, Nio and Xpeng. Global investment firms are watching how Chinese automakers compete on price, technology and exports.
No specific investment plans or figures were disclosed in the announcement. The meeting was part of ongoing exchanges between overseas capital and China's automotive ecosystem, Gasgoo said.
