Nio Energy, the charging and battery swap arm of Chinese EV maker Nio, said its network completed more than 2 million charging and swapping services during the seven-day National Day holiday from October 1 to 7. The figure covers 9,567 Nio charging and swapping stations across the country, according to PCauto.
Highway network sees record swap volumes
On highways, Nio's network delivered 24.83 million kWh of electricity during the holiday, up 30.8% from the same period last year, accounting for 13.7% of all highway charging and swapping electricity in China. The peak travel days were October 1 and October 5, when daily battery swap volumes hit new records, with the highest single-day swap count reaching 183,664. That translates to one swap every 0.47 seconds on average.
Users of Nio's three brands—Nio, Onvo, and Firefly—drove a combined 714 million kilometers during the holiday. Among them, 127,542 users drove more than 500 kilometers in a single day, and 197,684 users exceeded 1,000 kilometers over the entire holiday. A total of 203,581 users completed their long-distance trips entirely using battery swap, with some covering more than 2,000 kilometers across regions.
Highway battery swap sessions reached 1,192,221 during the holiday, up 22% year-on-year. Nio currently operates 1,073 highway swap stations, forming a network that covers more than 550 cities. The highway swap network saved users over 309,000 hours of waiting time during the holiday. The busiest highway routes were the G15 Shenhai, G3 Jingtai, and G50 Huyu expressways, with the Rizhao service area on the G15 Shenhai being the top-performing station.
Open network and expansion plans
Beyond its own brands, Nio's 5,399 charging stations with 31,091 charging piles are open to other EV brands. On October 3, Nio's public charging service surpassed 100 million cumulative sessions, with 86.69% of the electricity supplied to non-Nio vehicles. The company's 92 scenic charging routes completed over 130,000 services during the holiday.
As of October 9, Nio has built 4,168 swap stations and completed over 127 million cumulative swap services. On September 26, the 3,605-kilometer Silk Road battery swap route, stretching from Xi'an to Khorgos, was fully opened, with 33 swap stations along the way. Nio plans to build 100 scenic charging routes by the end of 2026. In county-level markets, Nio's swap stations now cover more than 1,300 districts and counties, with 10 provinces achieving full coverage. During the holiday, county-level swap volumes rose 144.2% month-on-month. The company also executed 14,397 flexible battery upgrade services, with 3,692 users opting for shared long-range battery packs.
