Nio hits 100 million charging sessions, 86.7% of power goes to non-Nio EVs

Nio's charging network has surpassed 100 million cumulative charging sessions, with 86.67% of the electricity consumed by non-Nio electric vehicles, highlighting the open nature of its infrastructure.

Chinese electric-vehicle maker Nio has reached a new milestone in its energy services, announcing that its charging network has now delivered more than 100 million charging sessions. The company said the cumulative figure was reached at 11:08:41 on October 3, according to PCauto.

Notably, 86.67% of the electricity dispensed through Nio's charging network went to vehicles from other brands, underscoring the open-access strategy that the company has pursued. This cross-brand usage is seen as a key support for public holiday travel, especially during the National Day peak period, when many EV owners rely on public charging infrastructure.

Network scale and service mix

As of the announcement, Nio had built a total of 9,522 battery swap and charging stations nationwide, comprising 5,361 charging stations with 30,892 charging piles, and 4,161 battery swap stations. The cumulative number of charging and swapping services exceeded 220 million, with charging services accounting for over 100 million sessions and battery swaps exceeding 126 million.

The company's "charge, swap, and upgrade" energy service system has become a competitive advantage, according to the report. The network's coverage and density have improved to the point where the convenience of recharging is approaching that of refueling a conventional gasoline car, the company says.

During the National Day holiday, Nio kept its charging and swapping network operating around the clock to support users traveling home or on trips.
