Jiushi Robotics, a Chinese developer of autonomous delivery vehicles, has secured Belgium's official Y Test Plate, marking its entry into the country's official vehicle testing framework and granting permission to conduct real-world road validation locally, according to Gasgoo. The license provides a compliant pathway for unmanned logistics vehicles to undergo road testing in Europe.
The Y Test Plate, issued with authorization from relevant transport authorities, outlines clear compliance requirements for autonomous delivery vehicles during road trials. Jiushi will evaluate the RoboVan's autonomous driving capabilities, system performance, and environmental adaptability under Belgium's road, traffic, and logistics conditions.
European Expansion Strategy
Following these tests, Jiushi aims to accumulate local operational experience, safety validation data, and partnership insights to adapt the RoboVan to European road environments and logistics scenarios, advancing from technical validation to commercial pilots.
Since launching its European strategy in 2025, Jiushi has pursued localized deployment across multiple countries. In April 2025, its Z5 RoboVan completed a five-stage technical validation at Austria's DigiTrans autonomous driving test center, covering vehicle safety and system reliability. In September 2026, Jiushi partnered with Dutch firm PuraMobi to pilot regular freight operations in closed commercial sites and industrial parks in the Netherlands. The company also showcased its vehicles at Intertraffic in the Netherlands and VivaTech 2026 in France.
Globally, Jiushi operates over 30,000 unmanned vehicles, with cumulative autonomous driving mileage exceeding 270 million kilometers (about 168 million miles), serving more than 20 countries and 300 cities. The EU's Regulation 2022/1426 has laid the legal foundation for type-approval of fully automated driving systems, explicitly supporting operations in defined areas and hub-to-hub transport, providing a policy framework for autonomous logistics deployment in Europe.
