Mini Countryman Untamed Edition to reach China in 2027

Mini has unveiled the Countryman Untamed Edition, an off-road-focused special version of its compact SUV, with a China launch planned for 2027. The model features all-terrain tyres, raised ground clearance and bespoke exterior styling.

Mini has taken the wraps off the Countryman Untamed Edition, a new special version of its compact SUV designed for outdoor adventures, and confirmed it will reach the Chinese market in 2027, according to NetEase Auto.

Off-road styling inside and out

The special edition is based on the latest-generation Countryman and gets a more upright, wider front grille with vertical black inserts and a carbon-steel grey surround. A matte black protective film covers the bonnet bulge, while the wheel arches feature short embossed lines intended to resist stone chips on rough terrain.

New 19-inch Untamed Edition Spoke light-alloy wheels take their design cue from classic steel off-road rims, with carbon-steel grey Mini lettering at the centre. The side skirts and protective film continue the rugged look, and the C-pillar carries a dedicated Untamed badge with a blue mountain graphic.

Inside, the outdoor theme extends to the seats and floor mats, which repeat the mountain motif. The dark blue sport seats use perforated Vescin material with knitted fabric on the shoulders and headrests, accented by blue stitching. The dashboard and door panels are covered in a recycled knitted fabric with grey yarn over a blue base layer, creating a textured finish that shifts with light and viewing angle. The centre console storage box draws on outdoor backpack and climbing gear design, with grey fabric, blue elastic straps and cord toggles to secure small items.

Hardware upgrades for rough terrain

The Untamed Edition is not just a styling exercise. It rides on all-terrain tyres with increased ground clearance compared with the standard Countryman, and Mini has recalibrated the ABS anti-lock braking system, the DSC dynamic stability control and the steering to suit the new rubber. An intelligent ALL4 all-wheel-drive system is standard, providing traction on varied surfaces.

Mini has not yet released pricing or full specifications for the Chinese market. The brand said the model is scheduled to be introduced in China in 2027.
