Mengshi X700 launches from 209,800 yuan with Huawei ADAS and dual powertrains

Dongfeng's Mengshi brand launched the X700 SUV on October 25, priced between 219,800 and 279,800 yuan, with a limited-time starting price of 209,800 yuan. The model features Huawei's full-stack intelligent tech, including HarmonySpace cockpit and Qiankun ADAS, and offers both PHEV and EREV options.

Dongfeng's off-road brand Mengshi launched the X700 SUV on October 25, with prices starting at 219,800 yuan (about $30,900) and going up to 279,800 yuan (about $39,400). Buyers who place a deposit and lock in their order before November 30 get a 10,000 yuan discount, bringing the effective starting price to 209,800 yuan (about $29,500). These are Chinese guide prices before taxes and incentives, according to NetEase Auto.

Huawei tech inside

The X700 is the first Mengshi model to feature Huawei's full-stack intelligent vehicle technology. It debuts the HarmonySpace 6 cockpit, which includes dual 15.6-inch displays with 2.5K resolution and 1,000-nit brightness. The system is powered by the Xiaoyi AI assistant, which can handle navigation, vehicle controls, and chat in natural conversation without requiring step-by-step commands.

For driver assistance, the X700 uses Huawei's Qiankun ADS 5 system, equipped with 27 sensors including a 896-line LiDAR. It supports highway NOA, urban NOA (city advanced driver assistance), and memory parking, plus an off-road NCA feature that can detect low obstacles in dusty or backlit conditions. The cabin also includes a 74-inch augmented reality head-up display that projects navigation arrows onto the road ahead.

Off-road capability and dual powertrains

The X700 is a five-seat, mid-to-large SUV measuring 5,035 mm long, 1,999 mm wide, and 1,910 mm tall, with a 2,920 mm wheelbase. It uses a unibody construction rather than a body-on-frame design, which Mengshi says improves ride comfort and cabin quietness while retaining off-road capability. Ground clearance is up to 328.8 mm, with approach and departure angles of 37.5 and 38.3 degrees, and a wading depth of 800 mm.

Two powertrain options are offered. The PHEV (plug-in hybrid) version uses a 1.5T engine producing 113 kW (about 151 hp) and an 800V electrical architecture, with battery options of 51.46 kWh or 68.10 kWh, giving CLTC electric-only ranges of 228 km or 285 km. The EREV (range-extender) version pairs a 1.5T engine rated at 95 kW (about 127 hp) with a 51.46 kWh battery, offering CLTC ranges of 228 km or 244 km depending on configuration. CLTC figures are typically 15-20% more optimistic than WLTP, so expect WLTP estimates of roughly 185-240 km (est.) for the PHEV and 185-200 km (est.) for the EREV.

Inside, the X700 features dual zero-gravity front seats that recline up to 127 degrees, a 7-liter cooler that can chill to -10°C, and a 850-liter trunk that expands to a flat 2.77 cubic meters when the second row is folded. The vehicle also offers 56 storage compartments and 26 mounting points for accessories.
