Mazda EZ-60 LiDAR Edition launches in China from 145,900 yuan, whole lineup from 113,900 yuan

Changan Mazda launched the EZ-60 LiDAR Edition and announced 2027-model-year pricing for the full EZ-60 lineup, with entry prices starting at 113,900 yuan (about $16,000) after limited-time incentives. The company also extended lifetime battery, motor and electronic-control warranties to existing owners of the EZ-6 and EZ-60, a first for the industry.

Changan Mazda has launched the EZ-60 LiDAR Edition, a driver-assistance-focused version of its electric SUV, and revealed pricing for the full 2027-model-year EZ-60 range. According to NetEase Auto, which covered the launch event on September 26, the entire lineup starts at 113,900 yuan (about $16,000) after limited-time incentives, while the LiDAR Edition starts at 145,900 yuan (about $20,500). All prices are Chinese guide prices before taxes and incentives.

The launch event doubled as a fan festival, where Changan Mazda announced that both new and existing owners of the EZ-6 and EZ-60 will receive lifetime warranties on the battery, electric motor and electronic control systems. Existing owners can sign a supplementary agreement at a 4S dealership to qualify. The move is seen as the first time a carmaker has extended new-vehicle benefits to existing customers at a launch event, a response to frequent complaints in China's EV market about "backstabbing" early buyers with newer, cheaper models.

LiDAR-based full-scenario ADAS

The EZ-60 LiDAR Edition is built around a Hesai ATX lidar unit with a 200-meter detection range and a 120-degree horizontal field of view, supported by three millimeter-wave radars, 11 cameras and 12 ultrasonic sensors. The system enables highway and urban navigation assistance as well as automated parking, covering speeds from 0 to 80 km/h (0 to 50 mph) in city scenarios. The carmaker says the system can handle complex interchanges, narrow roads with continuous S-shaped curves, and full-scene U-turns, with traffic-light starts in under 0.8 seconds.

The LiDAR Edition recently completed what Changan Mazda calls the industry's first real-world sequential ADAS test, combining mountain-road curves with rainy-night highway driving. The vehicle passed 14 consecutive challenges without interruption and received TOP Intelligence certification from the China Automotive Technology and Research Center. The model also features 25 active safety systems, including automatic emergency braking that can stop from 110 km/h (68 mph) for stationary vehicles at night and 90 km/h (56 mph) for pedestrians.

Beyond the ADAS upgrade, the 2027 EZ-60 retains the core attributes of the standard model: rear-wheel drive with a 50:50 front-rear weight distribution, continuously variable damping suspension, and a body structure with 86.5 percent high-strength steel and nine airbags. The SUV is built at Changan Mazda's Nanjing plant, which also serves as Mazda's global export hub for new-energy vehicles, shipping to Europe, Australia and Southeast Asia.

Design awards and owner benefits

The EZ-60 has won eight international design awards, including iF, Red Dot and IDA, and features a nine-channel aerodynamic design. Changan Mazda also announced the first stop of its Mazda Driving Academy in Zhuhai, offering track experiences and driving instruction. The company said test-drive vehicles for the EZ-60 LiDAR Edition are now arriving at dealerships nationwide.

The launch comes as Changan Mazda, a joint venture between Changan Automobile and Mazda, works to reposition itself in China's competitive EV market. The company said it is the first Sino-foreign joint venture to obtain full vehicle certification from the European Union, UK and Australia for its new-energy models.
