Changan Mazda unveiled the new MAZDA EZ-60 LiDAR edition at its 2026 fan festival in Zhuhai on September 26, positioning the model as the advanced driver-assistance flagship of the EZ-60 range. The launch event also revealed pricing for the full 2027 EZ-60 lineup, which spans nine models across both EREV (range-extender) and BEV (battery-electric) powertrains.
The EZ-60 LiDAR edition is offered in four variants, with a limited-time price starting at 145,900 yuan (about $20,500). To lower the entry barrier, Changan Mazda introduced seven purchase incentives, including a 6,000 yuan trade-in subsidy, a time-limited deposit-multiplier benefit of up to 7,400 yuan, a lifetime warranty on the three electric core components (battery, motor and controller), and a 1,500 yuan configuration upgrade credit. Buyers of the EZ-60 and EZ-6 also receive a lifetime zero-combustion-risk benefit valued at 7,999 yuan, with existing owners able to sign a supplementary agreement at dealerships to enjoy the same coverage, according to 电动邦.
LiDAR-based ADAS with urban and highway navigation
The EZ-60 LiDAR edition uses a LiDAR unit as its primary sensing hardware, complemented by 11 high-definition cameras, 12 ultrasonic sensors and three millimeter-wave radars. This sensor suite enables dual-domain navigation assistance on highways and in urban areas. On highways, the system can perform lane changes, obstacle avoidance, ramp entry and exit, and service-area navigation across the full speed range of 0 to 130 km/h (0 to 81 mph). In city driving, it relies on Tencent's lane-level navigation and an end-to-end technology architecture to handle cut-in avoidance, construction detours and narrow-road passage. An over-the-air update will add a "follow and tour" feature, and the vehicle supports memory parking and door-close parking across more than 300 parking scenarios.
Safety features include 25 active assistance functions. The AEB (automatic emergency braking) system can bring the car to a full stop from up to 110 km/h (68 mph) when facing a stationary object and from up to 90 km/h (56 mph) when a pedestrian crosses longitudinally. Before launch, the model completed 11 real-world high-risk scenarios, including mountain curves and rainy-night highway driving, in testing with the China Automotive Technology and Research Center, earning a TOP Intelligence smart-safety certificate.
Sales momentum and brand transformation
Wu Xuxi, executive deputy general manager of Changan Mazda's sales division, said 2026 marks an acceleration year for the joint venture's transformation, shifting from a purely product-import model to one that also handles Mazda's global new-energy R&D, manufacturing and exports. From January to August, Changan Mazda's sales grew 20 percent year on year, outperforming the overall market by 38 percentage points, with full-year sales expected to rise 25 percent. New-energy products now account for 57 percent of sales, and the EZ-60 has been the best-selling joint-venture new-energy midsize SUV for seven consecutive months since its launch.
At the event, Mazda's China president Hidemasa Matsuda presented invitations to the first group of Chinese Mazda fans to attend the 2026 Mazda Global Fan Festival. Actor Tony Leung, the brand's new-energy product ambassador, shared his 45-year philosophy of long-term commitment, saying, "There is no crash course for actors. Flowers have their season, trees have their rings, good wine takes time, good roles take time, and a good car also takes time." The company also introduced its "Green Seedling Plan" university student representatives and launched the first MAZDA driving experience camp at the Zhuhai International Circuit.
