Huawei-backed brand Luxeed has launched the refreshed R7 coupe-SUV in China, with prices starting at 239,800 yuan (about $33,800) and rising to 319,800 yuan (about $45,000). The model, co-developed with Chery, is available in four trims and offers both battery-electric (BEV) and range-extender (EREV) powertrains, according to Chinese outlet NetEase Auto.
Design and cabin upgrades
The R7 retains its coupe-SUV silhouette but gains a redesigned front with a new "star-track" light bar and 64-LED headlights, plus a new hollowed-out Luxeed badge. Semi-hidden door handles with quadruple redundancy and a side-facing camera on the B-pillar are new. At the rear, a 3D crystal through-type taillight with smoked lenses and a small spoiler freshen the look. The car measures 4,982 mm long, 1,981 mm wide and 1,634 mm (or 1,650 mm with roof rails) tall, with a 2,950 mm wheelbase.
Inside, the R7 features a new dual-screen setup, a 26-inch head-up display, and a redesigned D-shaped steering wheel. The seats are developed under Huawei's comfort V2.0 standard, with wider backrests and thicker lumbar support. A new "singing bowl" relaxation mode pairs with the HUAWEI SOUND system to play resonant tones during rest. The cabin also includes an air purification system using MOFs (metal-organic frameworks) and a dual-layer silver-coated windshield to reduce heat.
Powertrain and ADAS
The R7 rides on an 800-volt architecture. The rear-drive version's motor produces 227 kW (304 hp) and accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 5.9 seconds, while the dual-motor all-wheel-drive variant delivers 377 kW (505 hp) and a top speed of 200 km/h (124 mph). The CLTC range reaches up to 855 km on a single charge—roughly equivalent to 685-725 km under the more conservative WLTP cycle (est.). A 220-volt power outlet in the cabin supports outdoor camping.
The headline feature is Huawei's Qiankun ADS 5 advanced driver assistance system, which uses 36 sensors including a 896-line dual-optical-path image-grade lidar—claimed to be the highest-spec unit in mass production. A lower-cost version with an in-cabin co-optical-path lidar starts at 239,800 yuan. The system enhances safety and traffic efficiency, with urban NOA (city-level assisted driving) capabilities.
Luxeed is offering launch incentives worth up to 44,500 yuan (about $6,270), including discounts on a built-in fridge, zero-gravity seats, and wheels, plus a 21,000-yuan subsidy for the ADS advanced function package on higher trims. Existing HarmonyOS Smart Mobility owners get an additional 5,000 yuan trade-in subsidy.
