Jetta M6 opens pre-sales in China from 80,800 yuan, bringing urban NOA under 100,000 yuan

Volkswagen's Jetta brand has opened pre-sales for its first electric sedan, the M6, in China at a limited-time price starting at 80,800 yuan (about $11,400). The top trim, priced under 100,000 yuan, includes urban NOA (city advanced driver assistance), a first for the segment.

Jetta, the budget brand under Volkswagen's China joint venture, opened pre-sales for its new M6 electric sedan on September 28, according to Chinese automotive outlet PCauto. The model is offered in three trims with limited-time pre-sale prices ranging from 80,800 yuan (about $11,400) to 99,800 yuan (about $14,100). The top-spec 555 Ultra trim, priced at 99,800 yuan, brings urban NOA (city advanced driver assistance) into a price bracket below 100,000 yuan for the first time in the brand's lineup. All prices are Chinese guide prices before taxes and incentives.

The M6 is Jetta's first battery-electric vehicle (BEV) and adopts a closed front grille typical of EVs, paired with a new V-shaped Jetta logo. The front features L-shaped split daytime running lights with a teardrop design, while the front bumper integrates an active grille. The car is offered in six exterior colors: bamboo frost green, oriental purple, moon shadow silver, porcelain white, elegant ink black, and sunshine gold.

Dimensions and interior

The M6 measures 4,806 mm long, 1,895 mm wide (1,868 mm at the mirrors), and 1,500 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,820 mm. Buyers can choose between 17-inch and 18-inch wheels. The rear features a full-width LED light bar with the JETTA lettering embedded in the center, and the charging port sits on the front passenger-side fender.

Inside, the cabin follows a wraparound design with three color options: ink gray, distant mountain white, and cloud haze purple. All trims come with a 15.6-inch 2.5K central touchscreen. The cockpit system integrates multiple large language models, enabling hundreds of voice commands, trip planning, and voice cloning features. Hidden 256-color ambient lighting adds to the cabin atmosphere.

ADAS and powertrain

The M6's driver assistance hardware is built around Horizon Robotics' Journey 6M chip, supported by 11 cameras, one millimeter-wave radar, and 12 ultrasonic sensors. The system enables urban NOA, highway NOA, and intelligent parking. Jetta says the system was trained using a world model fed with extensive real-world driving data. Active safety features include 14 functions, with automatic emergency braking (AEB) operating from 0 to 130 km/h. The car achieves a moose test (elk test) result of 80.6 km/h.

Power comes from a single front-mounted electric motor available in two outputs: 113 kW (about 152 hp) and 145 kW (about 194 hp). The battery, supplied by CALB (China Aviation Lithium Battery), offers two range options: 465 km and 555 km on the CLTC cycle. For comparison, that translates to roughly 395 km and 470 km on the stricter WLTP cycle (estimated), as CLTC figures are typically 15-20% more optimistic than WLTP results.

Jetta is also offering pre-sale incentives including deposit expansion, limited-edition color film giveaways, a choice between two charging devices, trade-in subsidies, and priority delivery for early customers. The M6 marks Jetta's push into the increasingly crowded Chinese EV market, where price competition has intensified, with rivals like BYD and Leapmotor offering similarly priced electric sedans.
