Chinese automaker iCAR has launched the V27 long-range version, an extended-range electric SUV (EREV) priced from 189,800 yuan (about $26,700) to 203,800 yuan (about $28,700) as a Chinese guide price before taxes and incentives. The model, which went on sale on September 30, aims to bridge daily commuting efficiency with long-distance family travel by prioritizing electric driving.
According to NetEase Auto, the V27 long-range version is equipped with a 51.2 kWh battery dedicated to range-extender use, delivering a CLTC-rated electric range of 300 kilometers (186 miles). CLTC figures are typically 15-20% more optimistic than WLTP, so the real-world range is likely around 240-255 km (149-158 miles) under WLTP standards. This allows most families to complete a week of urban commutes, school runs, and nearby trips on pure electric power, reducing the need for frequent recharging.
For longer journeys, a 1.5-liter turbocharged range-extender engine with 45.79% thermal efficiency works with a 60-liter fuel tank to generate 3.71 kWh of electricity per liter of fuel, achieving a combined range of over 1,300 kilometers (808 miles). This "electric-first, range-extender for long trips" approach lowers daily running costs while alleviating range anxiety.
Standard All-Wheel Drive and Enhanced Comfort
A standout feature at this price point is standard all-wheel drive. The V27 long-range version's electric powertrain delivers 335 kW (449 hp) and 505 Nm of torque, enabling a 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) sprint in the 5-second range. The i-AWD system distributes torque in milliseconds, complemented by eight-plus all-terrain modes for wet roads, mountain slopes, and unpaved surfaces. An MRC magnetic suspension adjusts damping in real time to smooth bumps and provide cornering support.
The cabin focuses on family comfort: front seats offer ventilation, heating, 14-point massage, and four-way electric lumbar support, while the front passenger seat gains a 255 mm extendable leg rest. Rear windows feature sound-insulating glass, with seven acoustic glass panels across the vehicle. The five-meter-long body and four-corner wheel layout yield a 69.9% interior space efficiency ratio, and a 23-speaker 7.1.4-channel audio system enhances the journey.
Advanced Driving Assistance and OTA Updates
The V27 is the world's first vehicle to feature HSD 2.1 one-stage end-to-end full-scenario assisted driving, powered by a Horizon Journey 6P chip with 560 TOPS of computing power. The system includes a "Super Falcon 700+" feature that enables full-scenario reversing, automatically switching between forward and reverse gears to maneuver out of tight spots. A second major OTA update introduces over 110 improvements, including multi-agent cabin interaction and voice control for Midea smart home devices.
Safety is built to China and Europe dual five-star standards, with an 11-rib cage body, 76.53% high-strength steel and aluminum content, and seven standard airbags. The V27 long-range version redefines what a family SUV can offer by combining a large battery, standard all-wheel drive, and advanced driver assistance at a competitive price, though market reception will ultimately determine its success.
