iCAR V27 long-range EREV launches in China from 189,800 yuan

Chery's iCAR brand has launched the V27 long-range edition, a family-oriented EREV with 300 km of CLTC electric range and a combined range above 1,300 km, priced from 189,800 yuan (about $26,700).

Chery's iCAR brand has launched the V27 long-range edition in China, a family-focused range-extender electric vehicle (EREV) priced from 189,800 yuan (about $26,700) to 203,800 yuan. The new model, announced on September 30, targets daily commuting, weekend trips and long-distance travel, according to Chinese outlet 电动邦 (DianDongBang).

Range and powertrain

The V27 long-range edition is equipped with a 51.2 kWh battery pack, which iCAR says is the largest in its class for a range-extender. It delivers a CLTC electric-only range of 300 km (about 186 miles). CLTC figures are generally 15-20% more optimistic than WLTP, so a realistic WLTP estimate would be roughly 240-255 km (149-158 miles). For most families, the electric range covers daily commutes, school runs and weekend outings, allowing a "charge once a week" urban routine.

For longer journeys, the V27 uses iCAR's "super golden" range-extender system, featuring a 1.5T engine with 45.79% thermal efficiency. The automaker claims one litre of fuel generates 3.71 kWh of electricity, and with a 60-litre fuel tank, the combined CLTC range exceeds 1,300 km (808 miles). Drivers can charge or refuel along the way, easing concerns about charging queues during holiday travel.

Comfort, safety and intelligence

The cabin receives upgrades including front seats with ventilation, heating, 14-point massage and four-way electric lumbar support. The passenger seat gains a 255 mm infinitely adjustable leg rest, and rear windows now feature noise-reducing glass, with seven acoustic glass panels across the vehicle. The five-metre body and four-corner wheel layout yield a 69.9% interior space efficiency, according to iCAR.

The V27 long-range edition is built on the i-SWIFT 2.0 platform. The all-wheel-drive version produces 335 kW (449 hp) and 505 Nm of torque, accelerating from 0-100 km/h in the five-second range. An i-AWD system distributes torque in milliseconds, with eight or more driving modes for wet roads, mountain slopes and unpaved terrain. MRC magnetic suspension, tuned by the Purodiv team, balances comfort and handling.

Safety is based on China and Europe dual five-star standards, with an 11-by-11 lattice body structure, 76.53% high-strength steel and aluminium content, and seven airbags as standard.

The intelligence upgrade is a key focus. The V27 is the first vehicle globally to feature HSD2.1, a one-stage end-to-end full-scenario assisted driving system, powered by a Horizon Journey 6P chip with 560 TOPS of computing power. It also debuts in China a full-scenario reversing assist that extends driver assistance from forward driving to rearward manoeuvres. The second-round OTA brings over 110 upgrades and optimisations.

The iCAR V27 long-range edition is now on sale in China. The Chinese guide price before taxes and incentives starts at 189,800 yuan (about $26,700).
