Chinese automaker iCAR has launched the long-range version of its V27 SUV, adding two new configurations to the lineup. The 300KM four-wheel-drive Falcon 500 and Falcon 700 are priced at 189,800 yuan (about $26,700) and 203,800 yuan (about $28,700) respectively, according to NetEase Auto. These are Chinese guide prices before taxes and incentives.
Powertrain and Range
The long-range V27 is a range-extender electric vehicle (EREV), combining a 51.2 kWh battery pack with a 1.5-litre turbocharged range extender and dual electric motors. The CLTC electric-only range is 300 km, which translates to an estimated WLTP range of roughly 240-255 km, as CLTC figures tend to be 15-20% more optimistic than WLTP. With a 60-litre fuel tank, the combined range exceeds 1,300 km. The dual motors deliver a combined 335 kW (about 449 hp) and 505 Nm of torque, allowing a 0-100 km/h sprint in the five-second range.
The battery supports fast charging from 30% to 80% in 17 minutes and offers 6 kW vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability for camping. The Falcon 700 trim adds MRC magnetic suspension that adjusts damping in milliseconds, while the Falcon 500 comes with a standard suspension setup.
Design and Interior
The V27 retains its boxy, hard-edged design with vertical A-pillars, four wheels pushed to the corners, circular headlamps and functional modules. It measures 5,055 mm long, 1,976 mm wide and 1,894 mm tall, with a 2,910 mm wheelbase. Ground clearance is 220 mm and maximum wading depth is 600 mm, making it suitable for light off-road use.
Inside, the front seats feature ventilation, heating, 14-point massage and four-way electric lumbar support. A 255 mm adjustable queen-style leg rest is provided for the front passenger. The cabin includes seven sound-insulating windows, a dual-pane sunroof, suede headliner and a 23-speaker audio system with 7.1.4-channel sound. The interior space utilisation rate is 69.9%.
Technology and Safety
The Falcon 700 is equipped with a Horizon Journey 6P autonomous driving chip with 560 TOPS of computing power, Hesai lidar and a full sensor suite. It introduces a full-scenario reverse driving assist feature, allowing the vehicle to autonomously reverse and manoeuvre out of narrow lanes or blocked paths. The system also supports track-back reversing and self-painted parking spaces. The cabin runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P chip with AI-enhanced voice control.
Safety features include a body structure developed to meet both Chinese and European five-star crash standards, with 11 horizontal and 11 vertical beams, high-strength steel and aluminium accounting for 76.53% of the body, and seven airbags as standard.
The launch comes as iCAR aims to address a gap in its lineup. With rising fuel prices in China, many buyers are shifting to pure electric vehicles or plug-in hybrids with longer electric range. The V27 long-range version undercuts rivals by offering four-wheel drive and 300 km of electric range at a starting price below 200,000 yuan, a segment where many competitors offer only around 200 km of electric range.
