Hyundai's next-generation BAYON subcompact SUV has been caught on camera ahead of a possible launch before the end of the year, according to Chinese outlet 车质网 (Chezhiwang). The spy shots reveal a thoroughly modernized design for the model, which will enter its second generation.
Design and Styling
The new BAYON adopts a sleeker profile, with slim daytime running lights and a rising waistline that shortens the rear side windows, giving it a more dynamic stance. The rear end is fuller and more layered, with taillights echoing the front light design for a cohesive look.
Powertrain Options
Under the hood, the BAYON will offer a choice of a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated engine or a 1.0-liter turbocharged unit, paired with either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. For the first time, Hyundai will add an N Line sporty version, which will also be available with a hybrid powertrain.
The BAYON is positioned as a small crossover, competing in a segment where Chinese brands are increasingly strong, but Hyundai's global lineup still plays a significant role. The N Line variant is expected to bring a more aggressive body kit and sportier tuning, appealing to younger buyers.
Chezhiwang reports that the official reveal could happen in the coming months, with more details expected closer to launch. The new model is likely to be sold in markets where the current BAYON is available, including Europe, though Hyundai has not yet confirmed specific markets.
