Huawei's Yinwang reaffirms support for Aito brand amid partnership questions

Huawei's smart-car unit Yinwang issued a statement on Sept. 20, vowing continued support for the Aito brand and its users, clarifying its strategic partnership with Seres.

Huawei's smart-car solutions arm, Yinwang Intelligent Technology, issued a statement on Sept. 20, 2026, reaffirming its commitment to the Aito brand and its users. The statement, reported by PCauto, comes in response to market inquiries about the future of Aito's cooperation, product upgrades, and user service guarantees.

Yinwang, which operates under Huawei's Qiankun intelligent vehicle solutions, said that Seres is a strategic partner and shareholder. The company will continue to supply Seres with its full suite of intelligent vehicle technologies, including Qiankun autonomous driving, HarmonyOS cockpit, intelligent vehicle control, intelligent in-car optical systems, and intelligent vehicle cloud services. It also pledged to provide technical support and services to ensure the continued development of the Aito brand and to safeguard user experience.

The statement emphasized that Yinwang will keep integrating industry-leading intelligent solutions into Aito models, with continuous upgrades to enhance product competitiveness. It also reiterated its commitment to service support and optimizing the intelligent experience for Aito owners.

Strategic positioning and cooperation framework

Yinwang highlighted its strategic role as an "electronic screw" in the industry, aiming to support the development of intelligent vehicles and serve a broad range of automotive users. This positioning reflects Huawei's broader strategy of providing technology and components to automakers rather than building its own cars.

Previously, Aito and HarmonyOS Intelligent Mobility (Hongmeng Zhixing) issued a statement outlining a new cooperation model under the HarmonyOS framework. Under this model, Seres will lead product definition, design, brand marketing, channel retail, and service systems, while Huawei Terminal will participate in empowerment. The statement assured that all existing Aito user rights and subsequent services will remain unaffected.

The clarification comes amid ongoing speculation about the future of the Aito brand, which has been a key player in China's premium EV market. Aito models, such as the M5 and M7, have gained popularity for their integration of Huawei's technology, including advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and smart cockpit features.

For readers outside China, it's worth noting that Aito is a brand co-developed by Seres and Huawei, with Huawei providing the intelligent systems that differentiate the vehicles. The partnership model is unique in the Chinese EV industry, as Huawei supplies technology while the automaker handles manufacturing and sales.

Yinwang's statement aims to reassure both the market and Aito owners that the brand's trajectory remains stable, with continued innovation and support from Huawei's technology arm.
