Huawei's Harmony Intelligent Mobility (HIMA) brand held a launch event on September 28, introducing three new models that span SUV and MPV segments. The Luxeed RX officially went on sale at 259,800 to 389,800 yuan (about $36,600 to $54,900), the refreshed Luxeed R7 starts at 239,800 yuan (about $33,800), and the Stelato V8 MPV opened pre-sales from 329,800 yuan (about $46,500). All prices are Chinese guide prices before taxes and incentives.
Six technology platforms under one roof
According to the Chinese outlet DianDongBang, the event was as much about showcasing HIMA's technology base as about adding new models. The brand reiterated six core platforms: Huawei Tuling chassis, Huawei Zhijing powertrain, Huawei Jingjing battery platform, HarmonyOS cockpit, HarmonyOS ALPS health cabin, and Huawei Xinghe connectivity. These cover handling, power delivery, battery safety, cabin experience, health features, and vehicle networking.
The Tuling chassis deserves attention, said the report. Both the Luxeed RX and R7 use it, with different tuning. The platform applies intelligent control to the chassis, using multi-intent torque vectoring to improve handling limits. The Luxeed RX achieved 92.7 km/h in a slalom test.
The Jingjing battery platform reportedly meets new national standards five years ahead of schedule, passing sequential tests of water immersion, bottom scraping, side impact, and nail penetration under conditions exceeding national requirements. The Luxeed RX also debuts a 'black box' technology that records data in extreme scenarios and actively detects risks.
Luxeed RX: driving-focused SUV
The Luxeed RX is HIMA's first X-named SUV, positioned for driving pleasure. At Zhejiang International Circuit, it set a lap time of 1:43.210 with 594 hp (443 kW) and stock sport tires, claiming the fastest lap record for a Chinese-brand production SUV. It accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 3.6 seconds and brakes from 100 km/h in 32.4 meters.
The RX uses 90.5% high-strength steel and aluminum, with torsional stiffness of 51,040 N·m/deg. It has received an L3 autonomous driving road test license, making it the only L3-architecture model in HIMA's 300,000-yuan segment. The car carries 38 fusion sensors, including an 896-line dual-optical-path lidar and three high-resolution solid-state lidars.
Range-wise, the RX uses an 800V silicon carbide platform with an optional 100 kWh ternary lithium battery, offering a CLTC range of 852 km (WLTP est. around 680-720 km). The cabin features a 26-inch ultra-HD HUD, a four-way tilting center screen, and seats with 16-point massage.
Luxeed R7 refresh and Stelato V8
The Luxeed R7, HIMA's sales leader with over 120,000 cumulative deliveries, received a 500 million yuan (about $70.4 million) upgrade across eight dimensions. It starts at 239,800 yuan. The refresh focuses on the smart cabin, with a new butterfly dual-screen setup and 26-inch HUD, plus home-device integration through HarmonyOS. The R7 offers a 106 L front trunk, 852 L rear trunk, and an 80 L hidden storage compartment. It uses an 800V electric architecture with a CLTC maximum range of 855 km (WLTP est. around 680-730 km).
The Stelato V8 is HIMA's first MPV, positioned as a family smart flagship. Standard equipment includes Huawei ADS 5, dual-chamber air suspension, dual-valve continuously variable damping, ±12° rear-wheel steering, four zero-gravity seats, four smart privacy glass panels, and a 25-speaker Huawei sound system. It offers both BEV (battery-electric) and EREV (range-extender) versions. The BEV has a 120 kWh battery with 830 km CLTC range (WLTP est. around 660-700 km). The EREV offers 75.4 kWh or 56 kWh batteries, with four-wheel-drive CLTC electric range of 430 km and combined range up to 1,465 km.
HIMA also disclosed that cumulative deliveries surpassed 1.55 million units as of September 16. Assisted driving mileage exceeded 12.195 billion km, with vehicles using ADS averaging 5.55 times the Chinese average for safe driving distance per incident, and 3.25 times in manual mode. Active safety features have avoided over 5.006 million potential collisions.
