Hongqi Tiangong 07 opens pre-sales from 169,900 yuan, first 200,000-yuan-class car with Qualcomm 8397 chip

Hongqi's Tiangong 07, a family-focused electric sedan, has opened pre-sales in China at 169,900-199,900 yuan ($23,900-$28,200). It is the first model in the 200,000-yuan class to feature Qualcomm's 8397 cockpit chip, and comes with a 384-line lidar and 800V charging that adds 10-80% in under 12 minutes.

Hongqi has opened pre-sales for the Tiangong 07, a new electric sedan aimed at young families, with a Chinese guide price of 169,900 to 199,900 yuan (about $23,900 to $28,200) before taxes and incentives. The model is the first in the 200,000-yuan class to launch with Qualcomm's 8397 cockpit chip, according to Gasgoo, which first reported the news.

Smart cockpit and driver assistance

The 8397 chip, built on a 4nm process, delivers a significant boost in AI computing power compared with the older 8295 chip used in many current EVs. The Tiangong 07 runs on-device large language models, so voice commands can be recognized even without a network connection. Voice response time is under 200 milliseconds, and the system supports nine Chinese dialects and 60 seconds of continuous dialogue. It is also the industry's first to let an ordinary tablet serve as a passenger or rear-seat display, with compatibility across HarmonyOS, iOS and Android for multi-device connectivity.

For driver assistance, the car carries Hongqi's Sinan 5.0 system, equipped with the brand's first 384-line dynamic variable-focus lidar. The sensor fusion approach combines lidar and cameras, with a maximum detection range of 600 metres, designed to handle night driving, rain, fog and tunnels. Hongqi says the Tiangong 07 will attempt a live challenge on October 12 at the Bayinbuluke circuit in Xinjiang, aiming to complete the course with zero manual intervention using combined driver assistance, testing the system on high-altitude and sharp-corner roads.

Battery, safety and interior

The Tiangong 07 uses Hongqi's Tianxuan armour battery, which the company says exceeds national standards in water immersion, impact resistance and crush tests. The body is a 9H4M cage structure with 74% high-strength steel, including 2000MPa ultra-high-strength steel in key areas. It also includes automatic emergency steering, state-level encrypted data protection and a low-VOC cabin rated for maternal and infant safety.

The sedan measures 5,000mm long with a 3,000mm wheelbase, and Hongqi claims an interior space efficiency of 85.1%. Features include 20mm slow-rebound comfort seats, acoustic padding in multiple positions, an anti-motion-sickness mode, a 1.87-square-metre panoramic roof and a BOSE sound system. The car is built on an 800V high-voltage silicon carbide platform, with charging from 10% to 80% in no more than 12 minutes. Hongqi also showed its Tiangong 3.0 humanoid robot at the launch event.

Pre-sale orders can be placed through designated channels, with Hongqi offering purchase discounts and after-sales coverage for the full ownership cycle. The Tiangong 07 is positioned to compete in China's crowded mid-size electric sedan segment, where rivals include models from BYD, Xpeng and Zeekr.
