Hefei, a key hub for China's electric-vehicle (EV) industry, is adding another industrial base to its supply chain network. The Feixi Ziyun Lake auto industry base, located in the city's Feixi county, is in the final stages of construction, according to local government sources cited by Gasgoo (盖世汽车). The project, which will cover a total land area of about 168 mu (approximately 11.2 hectares) and a floor area of 69,000 square meters, is designed to be a modern auto industry park with complete functions.
The Ziyun Lake base sits close to Hefei's main urban area and connects to the auto industry corridors of the Hefei Economic and Technological Development Zone and the Hefei High-tech Zone. The surrounding area already hosts upstream and downstream companies in auto parts processing, mold manufacturing, and warehousing and logistics, making it a ready-made location for parts suppliers to set up quickly. The base aims to integrate research and development, production, and supporting services, and will focus on strategic emerging industries such as new-energy-vehicle (NEV) parts and intelligent equipment manufacturing.
Construction progress and timeline
According to the report, the single buildings under construction are in the finishing stages of indoor and outdoor installation and decoration, with curtain wall, decoration, and mechanical and electrical installation works proceeding in parallel. Once fully completed, the base will fill the gap in standardized industrial space in the area, allowing companies to move in with minimal preparation—a concept known as "luggage-in" occupancy.
In addition, a separate project for producing car seat assemblies and parts is in the final sprint of main structure construction, with plans to complete the main structure acceptance by the end of October. After that, the project will move to interior decoration works, laying the groundwork for equipment installation and overall delivery.
Hefei's EV ambitions
Hefei has already gathered six vehicle manufacturers, and the city is pushing its NEV industry from single-company breakthroughs to a full-chain cluster. The new industrial bases are expected to accelerate the agglomeration of parts and intelligent manufacturing companies, promoting the shift of auto manufacturing toward intelligence and intensification, and further strengthening Hefei's competitiveness in the NEV sector.
The city has set an ambitious target: by the first half of 2026, Hefei's total vehicle output is expected to exceed 750,000 units, with NEVs accounting for more than 550,000 of those. The new bases are part of the infrastructure supporting this growth, providing space for suppliers to scale up alongside the city's EV makers.
