Chinese automotive electronics supplier Hangsheng and NXP Semiconductors have officially opened a joint technology innovation laboratory in Shenzhen, marking a shift from strategic planning to concrete project development. The lab was announced at a signing ceremony this week, according to Gasgoo.
Deepening a 30-Year Partnership
The two companies have collaborated for more than three decades. In April of this year, they signed a second memorandum of understanding (MoU 2.0) to align on system-level cooperation, and the new laboratory is the first tangible outcome of that agreement.
Against the backdrop of what the industry calls 'AI-defining cars', the lab will focus on three core areas: intelligent cockpits, software-defined vehicles, and innovative AI applications.
In the intelligent cockpit domain, the partners will build on NXP's i.MX 9 platform and wireless connectivity products to deploy system-level solutions across multiple customer projects. For software-defined vehicles, they will work on NXP's CoreRide platform and S32K5 automotive microcontrollers, conducting joint research, pre-validation, and proof-of-concept designs to support the next generation of electrical and electronic architectures.
The lab will also prioritize the development and market application of AI edge computing platforms, exploring end-side AI, embodied intelligence, and software ecosystem integration to unlock deeper synergies between automotive scenarios and AI technology.
