GWM launches hybrid Dargo HEV from 105,900 yuan with city NOA

GWM has launched the Dargo HEV hybrid SUV in China, priced from 105,900 yuan (about $14,900) after limited-time discounts, featuring two hybrid powertrains, optional all-wheel drive, and city NOA assistance.

Great Wall Motor (GWM) has launched the Dargo HEV, a hybrid version of its boxy SUV, in China. The model is available in three trims, with official guide prices ranging from 119,900 to 137,900 yuan (about $16,900 to $19,400). A limited-time promotional price brings the starting point down to 105,900 yuan (about $14,900). All prices are Chinese guide prices before taxes and incentives, according to NetEase Auto.

Hybrid powertrains and efficiency

The Dargo HEV is offered with two hybrid systems: the Hi2 two-wheel-drive setup and the Hi4 all-wheel-drive configuration. Both combine a 1.5-liter turbocharged hybrid-specific engine with a multi-speed dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT) and electric motors. The Hi2 system delivers a combined output of 182 kW (244 hp) and 535 Nm of torque, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.7 seconds. The Hi4 version also produces 182 kW (244 hp) but offers 670 Nm of torque and a quicker 0-100 km/h time of 6.6 seconds.

GWM claims the Hi2 achieves a WLTC combined fuel consumption of 5.2 L/100 km, while the Hi4 is rated at 5.65 L/100 km. During a live-streamed test, a Dargo HEV covered more than 1,000 km on a single tank of fuel, climbing from an altitude of about 20 meters to over 1,500 meters across city, highway, and national road conditions.

The Hi4 version adds an electronically controlled mechanical locking differential and seven driving modes, including mud, sand, and snow, enhancing off-road capability. The system also features intelligent torque vector control and a 50:50 front-rear axle weight distribution for improved stability.

ADAS and cabin technology

The Dargo HEV comes with GWM's Coffee Pilot 3 Lite driver assistance system, which uses 26 sensors—including three毫米波radar, 11 cameras, and 12 ultrasonic sensors—and offers 128 TOPS of computing power. It supports city NOA (navigation on autopilot) for urban driving, including lane keeping, overtaking, obstacle avoidance, and intersection handling, as well as highway NOA for ramp entry and exit. Parking assistance covers over 200 scenarios, with remote parking, trail reversing (up to 100 meters), and a 540-degree camera view.

Inside, the SUV features a 15.6-inch 2.5K central touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 9-inch head-up display, running GWM's Coffee OS 3 system with 24 GB of RAM. It supports Apple CarPlay, Huawei HiCar, and ICCOA Carlink. The cabin includes ventilated, heated, and massaging front seats, heated rear seats, a 50-watt wireless charger, and a 10-speaker audio system.

The Dargo HEV retains its boxy design, with a wheelbase of 2,738 mm and a width of 1,890 mm. Boot space is 496 liters, expanding to 1,404 liters with the rear seats folded. GWM says high-strength steel accounts for 72% of the body, and the car comes with six airbags and active safety features like forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking.

The launch also includes promotional offers valid from September 28 to October 31, 2026, such as a deposit discount (2,000 yuan toward 8,000 yuan), trade-in subsidies (8,000 yuan for GWM brand, 6,000 yuan for other brands), and a 24-month interest-free financing option on 60,000 yuan.
