Gotion High-Tech, a major Chinese battery maker, has introduced a new generation of integrated battery systems for heavy trucks, using a Cell-to-Bracket (CTB) approach that cuts the vehicle's weight by about 400 kilograms (882 pounds), according to Gasgoo, a Chinese automotive news outlet.
The new product marks a shift from standalone battery packs to a more integrated chassis-level design. Traditional heavy-truck batteries often use a "single-pack" structure with redundant frames, brackets, and connectors that add weight and take up space. The CTB technology eliminates much of that redundancy, embedding the cells directly into a highly integrated bracket that becomes part of the vehicle structure.
Key specs and benefits
Compared with single-pack solutions, the new CTB system reduces the battery system's height to 943 millimeters (37.1 inches), a 40 percent reduction. This lowers the center of gravity, improving driving stability. The pack's volume is also smaller, achieving a volumetric energy density of 250 watt-hours per liter. The gravimetric energy density reaches 160 watt-hours per kilogram, and the weight savings translate directly into more payload capacity for truck operators.
Gotion offers the system in capacities ranging from 400 to 700 kilowatt-hours, allowing customers to choose a version that matches their operational needs. For safety and maintenance, the product features a "water-electricity separation" design with externally mounted cooling pipes, reducing the risk of coolant leaks damaging cells and simplifying repairs.
For cold climates, the system supports liquid heating and cooling, with an optional PTC ceramic heater to quickly warm the battery in extreme cold, ensuring efficient charging and discharging. Gotion said the product has completed 6,000 kilometers (3,728 miles) of durability testing on public roads.
According to industry statistics cited by Gasgoo, Gotion ranked among the top five heavy-truck battery suppliers in China from January to August 2026, with installations growing 51.5 percent year-on-year.
