GM China Q3 deliveries top 358,000 as new-energy share hits record

General Motors delivered over 358,000 vehicles in China in Q3, with new-energy vehicles (BEV, PHEV, EREV) accounting for more than 60% of sales, a record for the quarter. Key models like the Buick E7 and Wuling Bingo family drove growth.

General Motors delivered more than 358,000 vehicles in China during the third quarter, with new-energy vehicles reaching a record share of total sales for the period, according to Sina Auto.

New-energy vehicles — including BEVs (battery-electric), PHEVs (plug-in hybrids) and EREVs (range-extenders) — contributed more than 60% of GM's China sales in the quarter, the company said. The result underscores the automaker's accelerating electrification push in the world's largest car market.

Buick and Cadillac lead the charge

Buick launched the all-electric Zhijing L7 sedan and the Zhijing E7 PHEV mid-size SUV during the quarter. The E7 sold over 13,000 units in Q3, making it one of the brand's top-selling models. The GL8 family, which includes the Zhijing Shijia PHEV and BEV versions, delivered more than 22,000 units in the quarter. In August, cumulative GL8 sales passed 2.2 million units.

Cadillac's new XT5 PHEV went on sale in September, and the full XT5 lineup delivered over 9,000 units in Q3. The XT5 PHEV, developed specifically for the Chinese market, comes with driver-assistance features and uses the Momenta R7 world model.

Wuling small EVs keep momentum

At SAIC-GM-Wuling, the Wuling Starlight L PHEV SUV, launched in July, sold nearly 19,000 units in Q3, while the Huajing S delivered close to 22,000 units. In the small EV segment, the Wuling Hongguang MINIEV family sold over 34,000 units, and the Wuling Bingo family exceeded 57,000 units, with the Bingo Pro — launched in Q2 — contributing nearly 40,000 units.

GM said its new-energy transition in China is progressing, with a more diversified product mix and strong performance from key models supporting further expansion. As new models roll out and the electrified lineup grows, the company expects its China business to strengthen.
