Geely launches 2.2 MW 'Jili Zhichong' charging tech, 8 min 40 sec to 97% charge

Geely unveiled its new AI-powered charging system with a peak single-gun output of 2.2 MW, plus a new ultra-short blade battery series that charges a Lynk & Co 10 from 10% to 97% in 8 minutes 40 seconds.

Geely has officially launched its next-generation AI-assisted charging technology, called Jili Zhichong, at an event on September 23, according to Chinese auto outlet PCauto. The system delivers a peak single-gun charging power of 2.2 megawatts, and comes alongside a new family of ultra-short blade batteries under the company's Aegis Short Blade brand.

The new Shen Dun Jin Zhuan (Aegis Gold Brick) ultra-short blade cells come in lengths of 295 mm and 370 mm, with the 395 mm variant supporting a maximum charging rate of 12C. In a Lynk & Co 10 equipped with the battery, real-world testing at normal temperatures showed a state of charge (SOC) rise from 10% to 70% in an average of 4 minutes 30 seconds, and from 10% to 97% in an average of 8 minutes 40 seconds.

The 370 mm version of the battery supports a peak charging rate of 6C and will debut in the new Geely Galaxy E5. In normal-temperature testing, that model charged from 10% to 70% SOC in 8 minutes 25 seconds.

Dual-gun megawatt charging and AI features

Geely also introduced the Jili Zhichong charging pile, which the company says is the industry's first "dual-1500" charger, meaning it supports a peak voltage of 1,500 volts and a peak current of 1,500 amps. That combination enables a single-gun peak output of 2,250 kW, and the unit can deliver megawatt-level output from both guns simultaneously, making it compatible with future high-voltage vehicles ranging from 800V to 1,500V.

The charging pile uses a solar-plus-storage design, with an integrated large-capacity battery that supplies power alongside the grid during high-power charging sessions, reducing reliance on grid upgrades. It is designed to operate in temperatures from -30°C to 60°C, allowing deployment in shopping districts, residential communities, highway service areas and remote regions.

Geely also debuted several AI-driven features under the Jili Zhichong brand. "AI Smart Charging" claims to maintain battery health during charging for longer life, while "AI Temperature Control" keeps the average battery temperature below 55°C and the maximum below 65°C. An "AI Auto-Charge" system uses a robot to automatically locate the charging port and plug in, with the full insertion process taking no more than 30 seconds.

The company plans to launch two home charging robots: a 20 kW fast-charging robot, described as the world's first mass-produced unit of its kind, which uses monocular vision and AI recognition to find the port; and a 7 kW bottom-charging robot that uses visual and laser positioning to move autonomously and plug in even when the car is parked crookedly.

Geely also announced that for new models equipped with Jili Zhichong technology launched before January 1, 2028, first owners will receive 1,000 yuan (about $141) per year for two years in charging credits, totaling 2,000 yuan. Battery warranties for all new and existing Jili Zhichong-equipped vehicles will be extended from 8 years or 150,000 km to 8 years or 200,000 km.

By the end of 2027, Geely plans to have built over 22,000 charging stations with more than 100,000 charging guns, including over 15,000 Jili Zhichong stations and 50,000 Zhichong guns, aiming to cover every county in China. The longer-term vision includes over 150,000 stations and 600,000 guns, capable of serving more than 12 million vehicles per day.
