Geely has officially entered the Swiss market, holding a brand and product launch event in Zurich on September 21. The company unveiled three electrified models covering both battery-electric and plug-in hybrid powertrains, according to a report from Chinese outlet Gasgoo (via First Electric).
Three models, three segments
The lineup includes the Geely E5, a battery-electric compact SUV; the Geely E2, an electric crossover; and the STARRAY EM-i, a plug-in hybrid midsize SUV. Each model targets a distinct segment, giving Geely a broad footprint in the Swiss market from the outset.
Swiss automotive publication automobilrevue.ch reported that the Geely E5 starts at 29,990 Swiss francs (about 33,900 yuan, or roughly $4,800). The price is a Swiss guide price before taxes and incentives.
Geely has partnered with Emil Frey, a Swiss automotive import and retail group, which will serve as the official importer for Geely in Switzerland and Liechtenstein. Emil Frey also represents Geely's premium brand Zeekr and its commercial vehicle brand Farizon in the region.
European expansion continues
Geely brand CEO for Europe, Aiden He, said Switzerland and Liechtenstein are a natural extension of Geely's European strategy. The Swiss launch is a significant step in the company's globalization efforts, and Geely plans to gradually build out its sales and service network in the country, according to Gasgoo.
The move adds Switzerland to a growing list of European markets where Chinese automakers are establishing a presence. Geely's entry comes as the brand seeks to strengthen its position in the region amid increasing competition and evolving regulatory landscapes.
