GAC Trumpchi Launches Yue 7 Off-Road SUV from 161,800 Yuan, Targets Family Buyers

GAC Trumpchi's first hardcore off-road SUV, the Yue 7, hits the market with a guide price of 169,800-215,800 yuan ($23,900-$30,400), featuring a PHEV powertrain, three locks, and a focus on family comfort.

GAC Trumpchi has launched its first hardcore off-road SUV, the Yue 7, with a Chinese guide price of 169,800 to 215,800 yuan (about $23,900 to $30,400) before taxes and incentives. The launch event price is 161,800 to 207,800 yuan ($22,800-$29,300). The model is positioned as a dual-use vehicle for city commuting and outdoor adventures, according to NetEase Auto.

Specs and Positioning

The Yue 7 is a boxy SUV with a body-on-frame-inspired semi-load-bearing structure, offering a torsional rigidity of 38,000 N·m/degree. It features a 1.5-liter turbo engine paired with an electric motor in a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) setup, a 46-kWh CATL battery, and three locking differentials. The air suspension provides a maximum ground clearance of 310 mm, with approach and departure angles of 30 and 33 degrees respectively. The vehicle measures 5,004 mm in length, 2,004 mm in width, and 1,933 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,900 mm.

GAC Trumpchi, traditionally known for family-oriented models like the Yingbao sedan, M8 MPV, and GS-series SUVs, is entering the off-road segment for the first time. The Yue 7 aims to retain existing customers and compete with models like the Tank 500 Hi4-T and the BYD Fangchengbao Bao 5 in the 250,000-350,000 yuan price bracket.

Family-First Approach

Unlike traditional off-road vehicles, the Yue 7 prioritizes comfort and refinement. The interior features extensive soft-touch materials and sound insulation comparable to GAC Trumpchi's premium MPVs. The vehicle is equipped with a Qualcomm 8838 chip and a roof-mounted lidar, enabling full-scenario NOA (navigation on autopilot) for highway and city driving.

The PHEV system is a key differentiator, addressing the high fuel consumption typical of off-road SUVs. Owners can use pure electric mode for daily commutes and benefit from V2L (vehicle-to-load) external power for camping. GAC Trumpchi also offers factory-approved off-road accessories, including all-terrain tires, roof tents, and side awnings.

According to NetEase Auto, the Yue 7 is expected to be exported by the end of the year, leveraging the off-road segment to expand overseas. The model completes GAC Trumpchi's lineup across sedans, MPVs, city SUVs, and off-road vehicles, all equipped with the GMC hybrid system.
