GAC-Huawei brand Qijing launches GX7 SUV from 229,900 yuan with 1,500 km range

Qijing, the joint smart-car brand of GAC and Huawei, launched its first SUV, the GX7, with prices starting at 229,900 yuan (about $32,400) after limited-time discounts. The model features Huawei's ADS 5 driver assistance, HarmonySpace 6 cockpit, standard CATL batteries, and a claimed combined range of 1,500 km.

Qijing, the smart-car brand jointly created by GAC and Huawei, has launched its first SUV, the GX7, in China. The model is offered in three versions – Ultra, Ultra dual-motor all-wheel drive, and Ultra tri-motor all-wheel drive – with limited-time prices of 229,900 yuan, 249,900 yuan, and 291,900 yuan (about $32,400, $35,200, and $41,100) respectively. These are Chinese guide prices before taxes and incentives, according to NetEase Auto.

Huawei tech throughout

The GX7 is equipped with Huawei's Qiankun ADS 5 driver assistance system, which includes four lidar sensors and five 4D millimeter-wave radar units among 38 high-performance sensors. It supports parking-to-parking navigation that can access 1.2 million parking lots across China, as well as features like automatic avoidance in narrow lanes, gesture-based parking, and automatic forward movement if the trunk is blocked.

Inside, the SUV debuts Huawei's HarmonySpace 6 cockpit, featuring dual 15.6-inch screens, a 32-inch 2K laser projector for rear passengers, and a 21-speaker HUAWEI SOUND system with 7.1.4 surround sound. The cabin also includes an AMS sensor system that can detect children leaning forward, prevent seat pinching, and adjust child sleep mode automatically.

Bed mode and range

A key selling point is the "one-touch bed" function, which folds the rear seats flat in 20 seconds to create a 2.56-meter-long bed, using a four-fold design and multi-link lifting mechanism. The rear seatbacks recline up to 142 degrees, and the trunk offers 868 liters of space, expandable to 2,215 liters with the seats folded.

The GX7 uses a "super range-extender" system co-developed by GAC and Huawei, featuring a 1.5-liter turbo engine with 125 kW (168 hp) and an electric motor. The tri-motor version produces up to 550 kW (738 hp) and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds. It comes with CATL batteries in 52 kWh or 67 kWh options, supporting 800V fast charging that can replenish from 30% to 80% in 10 minutes. The CLTC pure-electric range is up to 385 km, and the combined range is claimed at 1,500 km. (CLTC figures are typically 15-20% more optimistic than WLTP; a WLTP estimate would be around 1,275 km.)

The GX7 is built on Huawei's Qiankun Chitu platform, a digital chassis that centrally controls drive, braking, steering, suspension, body, and thermal management. It features all-aluminum suspension with rear H-arm design, dual-chamber air suspension, and continuously variable damping for millisecond-level response.

Qijing is offering limited-time benefits worth up to 75,000 yuan (about $10,600), including a 10,000 yuan cash discount, trade-in subsidies up to 10,000 yuan, lifetime warranty for the first non-commercial owner, and discounts on optional packages such as the second-row comfort suite and electric running boards.
