Firefly delivers record 7,327 cars in September, leads China's premium small-car segment

Firefly, Nio's premium small-car brand, delivered a record 7,327 vehicles in September, up 26.9 percent year on year, and maintained its top spot in China's premium small-car market for the 16th consecutive month.

Firefly, Nio's premium small-car brand, delivered 7,327 vehicles in September, a record monthly high, according to data released on October 1 by the company. The figure represents a 26.9 percent increase year on year. In the third quarter, Firefly delivered a total of 18,950 units, also a quarterly record, bringing cumulative deliveries since launch to 87,536 vehicles.

The brand has now led China's premium small-car segment for 16 consecutive months in terms of market share, with a share above 70 percent in nine of those months. In August, its market share climbed to more than 74 percent, according to the company.

Firefly's product lineup is gaining traction. In September, the halo series accounted for nearly 10 percent of total brand sales, with the first model, the "Habitat," maintaining a stable share since its launch. From September 26 to 30, Firefly showcased the Habitat at the 2026 World Design Capital conference in Shanghai, collaborating with the School of Creativity and Art at ShanghaiTech University and the Oslo School of Architecture and Design on a themed exhibition and forum focused on "ritual design."

Charging network and user engagement

Firefly is also expanding its battery-swap network. As of October 1, 89 Nio fifth-generation battery-swap stations across 24 provinces and 55 cities support Firefly vehicles, providing more convenient charging options for owners.

The company launched a new season of its "Project Glow Urban Life Season" on September 17, encouraging users to personalize their vehicles around commuting, travel, sports, camping, and pet companionship, further broadening the brand's small-car culture.

Firefly said it will continue to improve product experiences and brand expression to support urban mobility. The brand's growth underscores the increasing acceptance of premium small electric vehicles in China, a segment that has seen rising competition from domestic and international players.
